Job Description
CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Lead Lighting Artist to join our studio in Boston to work on Cyberpunk 2, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise. In this role you will bring your expertise, leadership skills, attention to detail, and passion for telling stories through cinematic and emotionally engaging lighting to build and lead a team of exceptional lighting artists.
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead the Lighting Team to deliver high-quality, emotionally engaging cinematic lighting.
* Act as the direct manager for team members, conducting reviews and establishing deliverables while keeping the team motivated, inspired, and productive.
* Recruiting, leading, mentoring, and guiding the team while fostering a culture of creativity, trust, and technical excellence.
* Partner with Directors and Production to strategically plan and estimate work, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
* Tracking the progress of assigned lighting tasks and communicating any blockers the team may have.
Artistic Vision & Execution
* Collaborate closely with the Art Director to maintain the art direction and the core vision of the game.
* Actively participate in aesthetic problem solving discussions.
* Collaborate across multiple disciplines to support gameplay, cinematics, and environments with outstanding lighting.
* Ensure that lighting solutions produced by the team are performant and within technical budgets.
* Lead by example by taking direct ownership over some of the lighting tasks.
Pipeline Development & Technical Problem Solving
* Lead the development of the Lighting pipeline to deliver a comfortable, streamlined, and efficient workflow for the team.
* Actively participate in technical problem solving discussions.
* Collaborate with technical disciplines to help develop tools and tech that optimize the lighting workflow and push the boundaries of real-time lighting.
Qualifications
* Minimum 8 years of experience in the video games industry, including at least one shipped AAA title.
* Proven experience as a Lead Lighting Artist, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
* Deep knowledge of performance and optimization for real-time lighting.
* Solid understanding of PBR concepts and real-time rendering techniques.
* Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.
* A portfolio that demonstrates a deep knowledge of core artistic principles such as color theory and composition, as well as the ability to convey emotion and tell stories through light.
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
* Curiosity, kindness, initiative, and a positive and professional can-do attitude.

This position is responsible for capturing still images of gameplay intended for marketing campaigns and featured within the games themselves. This process involves taking photographs within a virtual 3D game environment. The successful candidate is someone who loves games, who can construct the best-looking scenes and shots possible and take specific direction when needed.
This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar's NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.
WHAT WE DO
The Rockstar Games In-World Photography Team assembles footage of gameplay for use in marketing campaigns and in game.
Detached camera controls allow the team to create almost any shot imaginable.
Our process is shooting photography in a virtual 3D game environment like a digital street photographer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Create stylized images within game engines that capture the vibe of a project.
Work at a fast pace on multiple projects simultaneously.
Rapidly master new and unfinished games.
Work using technologies involved with a game in development, including debug features.
Problem-solve to achieve the best possible results while working within the confines of unfinished technology.
Work with varying levels of supervision and creative direction, ranging from complete autonomy to working with a director to assemble a specific set of shots.
Excel both within a team environment and individually to deliver outstanding still assets.
REQUIREMENTS
Photography experience with and a strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to work with a real and/or virtual cameras.
Capable of working independently while also collaborating as part of a larger team.
Expertise in video game playing. Are you able to complete every game you pick up faster than anyone else you know?
A passion for and extensive knowledge of movies, TV, pop culture, and music videos.
Detailed understanding of and passion for Rockstar's games.

This contract is specific to work in the Chautauqua Arts Education Opera in the Schools Program. This program includes up to a total of 16 engagements with schools, including an in-class lesson component and a performance at each engagement.
About Your Compensation
Compensation for this position is $24.75 for 40 hours a week up to 2.5 weeks.
Round-trip air travel reimbursement of up to $550 is also provided. If flying into Buffalo International Airport, transportation will be provided to and from the airport.
About Your Work Day
To participate as a core member Chautauqua Arts Education and Chautauqua Opera Company & Conservatory team and adhere to the daily schedule as determined from early to late May.
To support the touring community productions as assigned and prepare all assignments in advance of arrival.
To work alongside company management, and departmental heads across the organization as valued team member.
To assist with various ancillary events on the Chautauqua Institution grounds (both in-person and digitally) as requested.
To arrive on-time for all rehearsals, coaching, events and fittings and with proper attire.

About the Referral Program
Chautauqua Institution's Referral Bonus Program is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives.
