The Real Estate Services (RES) division of DCAS supports the operations of the government of the City of New York by providing services for the City's real estate needs. RES is responsible for the space planning and management of 37 million square feet, Citywide acquisitions (lease or purchase), sales and other dispositions of City-owned real estate, architectural design and project management, zoning and land use analyses, disposition of 15,000 City-owned lots, property valuation, and financial analysis of real estate transactions. The RES Leasing unit is responsible for finding space for City agency operations and negotiating leases and licenses on behalf of the City as a tenant in buildings that are privately-owned. Leasing's mandate is to negotiate cost effective leases and license agreements and shepherd them through the DCAS process on a timely basis. The transactions must satisfy the client agency's requirements and must conform to the City's policies and procedures. Book Processors are a critical role in our business and performs duties to label, fix, reinforce, and protect product according to instructions while meeting established standards for quality and productivity. Maintain assigned work area and equipment such as tape and label dispensers, scissors, “X-Acto”-type knives, rolling shear cutters, adhesive removers, measuring tools, data entry terminals, and scanning devices in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Replace as needed. Pull incoming totes of books down from top line. Accurately enter orders into tracking system, noting any special instructions indicated with orders. Review orders for processing specifications. Refer to proper instructions for clarification of procedures and quality standards or request information from appropriate supervisors. Inspect product for dirt, damage, or other defects. Clean, repair, or replace product as necessary. Correctly match and label product according to instructions and processing procedures. Reinforce product using protective covering as directed. Install theft detection devices to product. Rework or repair product returned by Quality Assurance or the customer or as directed by management in an orderly and prompt manner. Place and record defective product in rejection area. Move totes to holding line as needed to wait for replacement books or supplies. Complete proper documentation for orders not completed. Complete orders left unfinished by other personnel. What You'll Do: This is a Hourly Position As an Order Processor II, you are responsible for safely and efficiently moving heavy and large products within the warehouse, primarily without the use of automated picking or lifting machines. The position is tasked with loading trailers with prepared products and ensures that they are loaded safely and correctly to ensure proper transport. * Perform general physical activities in a warehouse, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products and materials manually. * Efficiently handle all tasks related to material handling and stock movement. * Safely and systematically lift, move, and organize products weighing up to 50 pounds or more as needed, using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment. * Read customer orders, locate items on warehouse shelves using scanners or picking lists, and select the correct quantity of products. * Ensure all products are packed correctly and have the appropriate shipping labels and paperwork, such as packing slips and invoices. * Becoming proficient with warehouse management system and use of RF scanners. * Coordinate with the shipping team to ensure timely dispatch. Environmental Factors & Working Schedule: * Regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, and various movements such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, along with talking and hearing. * Ability to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds regularly. * Repetitively maneuvering and handling of product up to 50 pounds. * Vision requirements: Requires close, distance, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving parts, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risks, and toxic or caustic chemicals. * Work environment typically has low to moderate noise levels. * Operating some Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) may require working at heights of up to 32 feet. * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
