How many people go in store just to poo?

It happens from time to time, but the only problem is, our store doesn't have a public bathroom. We have one in the back, but that's for employees.
February 14, 2015 on Reddit

I've heard that 7-Eleven makes the employees pay for any unsold "roller" items after they've been out past the food safety time limits. Is that true where you work?

No. I have heard of that happening in other stores though. The reason some employers make them pay for it is because when we have left over food items (roller items or donuts) 7-Eleven will pay 50% of the items cost, and the other half comes out of the franchisee's pocket. Which is also why some places offer 1/2 off specials on their food items after a certain time. That way they cover their cost, but 7-Eleven is still going to pay them that 50% What they DO make us pay for is unsold lottery tickets. What I mean by that is tickets from the lottery machine only. Games such as Classic Lottery 47, Powerball, Mega Millions, etc. All those tickets cannot be cancelled once they have been printed. If someone asks me to print them a ticket and then decides they don't want it (This does happen more often than you'd think), I have to put it in the window in hopes someone will buy it before that game draws. If not, I have to pay for it since the store makes no money on Lottery.

Have you ever sharted while standing behind the counter serving customers?

Almost. Had to poop before I went to work, and I didn't get a chance to leave the desk for more than three consecutive minutes until after work, which was 9 1/2 hours later.
November 27, 2013 on Reddit

does it get annoying when people come in just to buy lottery tickets?

It's apples and oranges. I'm equally annoyed by people who come in, walk over my mopped floor, take forever to decide what they want, making me waste my time because I have to watch them (seeing as people steal quite often, more than I would have ever believed.) It's easier to just have someone come up and buy lottery. SURE, if we didn't have lottery machines, it'd be less people to wait on, but since we do and I can't change that fact, I look at them the same as other customers. Besides, I'm not the one who isn't making a profit off them; that's my boss.

Also, what type of self-righteous *** doesn't sell to underage kids? You are probably the type of person that has never done anything with their life, but are convinced that you are smarter than the kids from your high school that went to college and have great jobs. I hope they laugh when they see you behind the counter.

Haha, I just don't want to lose my job. And yeah, even my friends and I laugh at myself standing behind the counter. What do you think the picture in the proof was taken for? We all think it's funny that I ended up working at 7-Eleven.

What do you while working, when you are bored and there are no customers? Is it allowed to read a book, or do something else?

If there's absolutely nothing to do, then yeah it's cool, but there's pretty much always some sort of seemingly menial task that takes a higher priority.
November 26, 2013 on Reddit

No question, but YOU ARE SO *** YOUNG! There is absolutely no shame in working at 7-Eleven, or any other mediocre job at your age. If you were 40, then you might have to reevaluate things. **EDIT:** I take that back - I do have a question. Have you ever been robbed at gunpoint? If so, how has that experience affected you? When I was about 23/24, I was a manager at a KFC in a low income area. One night, I had some outsourced steam cleaners powerwashing my ventilation hoods, and they left the back door open. Three armed and masked gunmen came in, and robbed me. There had been a recent restuarant robbery that resulted in a murder, so I had it in my head that they were going to kill me. I kept my cool, though, and they left without hurting anyone. Our upper management made a big deal out of it, offering me time off and counseling, but honestly, it wasn't a big deal to me. I was more worried that I would get written up for allowing the steam cleaners to leave the back door open. Not to say that there is anything wrong with that being a tramatic experience for someone.

Thanks for the encouragement :) **EDIT:** Fortunately not! All my near-deaths have occurred outside of my workplace. Your story, on the other hand, is insane. Our night shift has been robbed seven or eight times at gun point, but never more than one robber at a time. I'm glad you made it out alive and uninjured, man. Robberies aren't cool :/ Also would like to add that I'm very, very grateful for my job. It came at the right time, shone a new light on the general public and on myself as an individual, taught me how to handle not so pleasant people. Just sometimes I feel a little immature because I work at 7-Eleven, so I bring the issue online for some comedic relief.

Have you ever picked up a chick with that job?

There have been a couple times where the opportunity made itself readily available among under-aged girls and single moms, but I'm happily taken by a well adjusted childless lady more suitable to my age.

Did you ever try to predict where the winning scratch offs were at ?

One time my coworker and I were *convinced* that there was a big winner in the machine, because we saw a guy spend 50 dollars on one ticket and win nothing. We tried to get more people to play that ticket, and this one couple totally blew $100 trying to find that "winner" we thought was in there. I felt pretty bad about that.

Ever get robbed? Gimme an estimate on how many people came in that were clearly stoned. Ever had to call the cops on a customer?

We've never been robbed outright - we mostly only deal with the little punks who pocket candy bars and what not. We catch them often because they are really bad at it. One of the tell-tale signs is when a pair of little dudes bombard you at the register, while the "lone wolf" goes to the back and hides behind the chip display. We catch them and they feel bad. On any given day *at least* 3 people are totally blitzed. It's really embarrassing because they know everybody knows and they get really awkward and they tend to lower their head in shame. It's mostly teenagers who come in *way too high,* though. The adults also come in high, but just on different things... *sniff. twitch. Earlier this month a regular customer came into the store at about 4 o'clock. He's deaf and has chronic pain and a lot of prescribed pain killers to help. He'll occasionally overdose and get into trouble. Two years ago he drove into a motorcyclist and killed him. He got off scot-free, somehow, and for that I despise him. Anyway, earlier this month, he came into the store visibly *** up on pain meds. It's hard to communicate with him because he's deaf, so I just left him alone. I saw him kneel over to read a magazine, and he just kinda tipped over and rolled around like a turtle. I grabbed my boss lady and we called the cops. It felt really good. He left before they got there, but the police found him a few hours later as he was walking home. They just picked him up and dropped him off at his house. :/
