A & Associates is looking for eager and professional candidates to work as full time and part time Waste Collector Helpers.
SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, collects residential and commercial refuse on designated routes and assists in completion of all routes; and perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Eighth grade. Must be able to lift and handle 50 pounds and work from 3:00 am five days and all holidays.
NATURE OF WORK
This is heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of refuse and recyclable material, including yard trash. Employees in this class perform routine work as part of a crew in collecting garbage, refuse, recyclables, yard trash and other waste materials, and in transporting them to the designated disposal and recycling locations. Work is characterized by the necessity for considerable physical exertion and by close daily contact with unpleasant materials. Employees are expected to work out-of-doors regardless of weather. All work is closely supervised by the truck driver in charge of the crew
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Performs waste, recyclable, and yard trash pickup at garbage disposal areas of commercial, residential, and other designated locations. Performs curbside pickup in residential areas. Uses pitchforks, shovels, and similar hand tools to pick up general refuse, garbage, recyclables, trash, and yard trash from curbside and other areas as instructed. Rides with truck to disposal locations and/or recycling centers; assists truck operator and disposal personnel in off-loading. Assists truck driver in fueling and checking all fluid levels of assigned truck, including spares; cleans out trucks, including cab interior, daily, upon route completion. Performs related work as required.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs skilled work in the safe and efficient operations of a passenger bus or vehicle for the primary purpose of driving passengers around the area in a fixed or flexible schedule as circumstances dictate. Work may include the receipt and disposition of citizen inquiries with respect to services, and the performance of safety checks prior to vehicle operation. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates a specialty type vehicle safely and efficiently in the transport of passengers along a fixed or flexible schedule as assigned.
Assists passengers as they step on and off the vehicle; ensures that all passengers are properly seated prior to movement of the vehicle; may carry packages and assist clients with safe entrance and exit of the vehicle.
Loads, secures, and unloads wheelchair clients safely and efficiently if needed.
Uses Data collection computer terminal provided in buses to record passenger counts, passenger mileages, fares, and other information as required.
Performs a pre-operating maintenance check including but not limited to re-fueling and cleaning, to ensure the safety of the vehicle and the security of its passengers.
Stays updated as to responsibilities under the System Safety Plan as amended
Performs related work as assigned.
Participates in emergency response and scheduled on call program.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and no less than six (6) months of relevant experience operating a passenger bus or specialty vehicle; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Required for Transit file are copies of Pre-employment Drug test per the System Safety Plan and a DMV check no older than 60 days.
Licenses and/or Certificates: Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class “C” with “P” endorsement and air brakes or better, Standard Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification before operating buses.
