MILL OPERATOR PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Responsible for the safe operation of aluminum rolling mill, processing material from and to coils. Responsibility also includes ensuring safety and productivity goals are met while minimizing downtime and producing a quality product. MILL OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Operating rolling mill(s) in accordance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Change rolls used in production and assist other Mill Operators with roll changes and threading. Monitor production processes to ensure efficient operation and product quality. Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any issues or potential maintenance needs. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs, to keep machinery running smoothly. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance staff to resolve any issues in a timely manner. Maintain accurate production records, including output quantities, downtime, and quality control checks through both manual and electronic data collection systems. Collaborate with other team members to optimize production processes and achieve production targets. Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Participate in training programs and skill development initiatives to enhance your knowledge and proficiency in mill operations. Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and overhead cranes. Assists in writing and reviewing of operational job safety analysis (JSAs) on plant equipment; improves procedures and collaborates on new JSAs based on observations and experiences. MILL OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a mill operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the metal industry. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform conversions to decimals or other forms of measurement. Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machinery issues. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols at all times. Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed. Industrial manufacturing experience, preferred.     Job Description Job Title: Millwright Department: Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor The Millwright at Chance Aluminum will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment and mechanical systems throughout the facility. This role supports production by minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. Millwright Essential Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair all mill related systems. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned outages. Troubleshoot mechanical failures using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. Disassemble and reassemble machinery with precision to manufacturer specifications. Use hand tools, power tools, welding, and fabrication equipment to make repairs and modifications. Ensure equipment alignment, leveling, and balancing for safe and efficient operation. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Collaborate with electricians, engineers, and other maintenance staff to complete repairs and improvements. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and always wear proper PPE. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and plant productivity. Support emergency repair needs during production downtime or breakdowns. Millwright Qualifications: Required: • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or Millwright apprenticeship preferred. • 3+ years of experience as an industrial Millwright or in a mechanical maintenance role. • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. • Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.). • Basic welding and metal fabrication skills are a plus. • Physically able to lift heavy equipment, work at heights, and in confined spaces. • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. • Experience in the aluminum or metals industry is preferred. • Working knowledge of CMMS and preventive maintenance scheduling is a plus. • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and mechanical safety practices. Preferred: Associate degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles. OSHA 30 certification. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in a noisy and physically demanding industrial environment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in tight spaces for extended periods. Work Schedule: Full-time position with possible on-call availability for emergencies.
