Passion for Manufacturing, published in 1993, contained 280 pages of wisdom from the renowned automotive authority that eventually would be sold in 80 countries and used as a textbook in numerous colleges and universities.

1996

His investments and changes in manufacturing techniques drove the company's sales up to $2.2 billion in 1996, by which point his efforts had produced sufficient tangible results to attract a large cash infusion.

1997

1997: Blackstone Capital Partners acquires a controlling stake in AAM.

1998

In 1998, the company acquired Scotland-based Albion Automotive (Holdings) Limited, a supplier of front steerable and rear axles, driving heads, crankshafts, chassis components, and transmission parts.

2000

The dramatic improvements drove the growth of the company, enabling it to edge past the $3-billion-in-sales mark in 2000, 84.5 percent of which was derived from sales to GM.

2001

In 2001, progress in the company's customer diversification was highlighted by two contracts.

2003

By the end of 2003, AAM derived 80 percent of its revenue from products featuring new technology.

2004

2004: AAM dedicates a new world headquarters building in Detroit.

The company received a new contract to supply GM with a new driveline system in 2006, a deal of tremendous importance to its future business.

Due to restrictions around COVID-19, the museum accreditation process was done virtually in spring 2021, following extensive self-studies and reports.
