THE OPPORTUNITY This Staff Software Engineer, Mobile Applications position can work out remotely within the U.S. What You'll Work On Architect, design, and implement software solutions for mobile platforms. Support mobile development and architecture using hybrid technologies (React Native, Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile) as well as native technologies (Swift, Kotlin). Architect, design, and implement cybersecurity measures for supported systems. Identify and resolve design and technology issues within existing systems. Design, improve, and support product testing, build processes, and deployment pipelines. Collaborate with internal and external partners to design, develop, and integrate APIs that enable users to share and utilize medical data in partner systems. Ensure performance, uptime, and scalability while maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design. Maintain a deep understanding of system‑level requirements and workflows to ensure software requirements are consistent and complete. Provide technical leadership in defining strategy, requirements, and solutions to enhance CRM's mobile software test management framework. Demonstrate project management leadership in coordinating verification activities across all program phases, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, aligning schedules and dependencies, and integrating deliverables to meet timelines. Create software requirements specifications for new features or user stories. Manage software requirement documentation and traceability within a requirements management tool. Serve as a subject matter expert in discussions and reviews of test deliverables. Ensure all product development activities and deliverables comply with Abbott and CRM guidelines as well as regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EU‑MDR). Stay informed on the latest mobile software technologies, OS updates, app store requirements, and cybersecurity/data privacy standards. Demonstrate familiarity with Agile principles to support iterative development, testing, and deployment. Support corporate and department‑level initiatives in alignment with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. Minimum of 8 years of professional hands-on software development experience. Familiarity with architecture principles, patterns, frameworks, and blueprints. Proven experience with architecture and design for mobile, data, and/or cloud systems. Extensive experience with React Native. In‑depth knowledge of Turbo Modules, Fabric, Hermes, and React multithreading. Strong understanding of the React Native application build process. Proven experience with mobile technologies and languages for iOS and Android, including Swift, Kotlin, JNI, and C/C++ (on mobile). Familiarity with data architecture and design practices for mobile solutions. Familiarity with analytics products such as Firebase and Segment. Preferred experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, CircleCI, Harness, Jenkins, Fastlane, Sentry). Preferred experience with deployment support tools (Microsoft App Center, TestFlight, Play Store). Preferred experience with development support tools (Flipper, Crashlytics, Code Analytics). Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for supported architectures. Familiarity with cryptography concepts. Preferred experience with application security aspects such as obfuscation and code protection. Proven experience implementing mobile solutions and components. Preferred familiarity with multiple operating systems (iOS, Android, mac OS, Linux, Windows). Experience documenting architectural and design decisions.
