As Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Hidalgo is responsible for the scientific vision of Absorption Systems, planning, executing, and managing the scientific and technical operations of the company. He co-founded Absorption Systems with his business partner Patrick Dentinger in 1996. His work in pharmaceutics and in vitro pharmacokinetic models formed the basis for the original premise of Absorption Systems, which was that validated, reliable preclinical test systems could identify drug candidates with appropriate drug-like properties and help predict success in the clinic. Dr. Hidalgo is famous among pharmaceutical scientists for pioneering the Caco-2 cell monolayer, an in vitro model that predicts human oral drug absorption. His seminal 1989 paper in the journal Gastroenterology has been cited more than 1300 times, and he was active in research on drug transporters in the 1990s, long before they became fashionable. It was his foresight and leadership that has resulted in CellPort Technologies, a panel of cell-based transporter assay systems whose development began even before the 2006 FDA draft guidance on drug interaction studies. Dr. Hidalgo obtained his B.S. in pharmacy in his native Panama, followed by a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Southern California. The work for which he is best known was done during postdoctoral research in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas. He then spent several very productive years at SmithKline Beecham and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer before starting Absorption Systems.

Dr Sid Bhoopathy is the President and COO of Absorption Systems. In this capacity, he directs the convergence of the commercial, technical, and scientific aspects of the company to execute its strategic and tactical growth plans. He possesses a thorough understanding of the processes that support lead optimization, candidate selection, and preclinical drug development. His in-depth appreciation of the nuances of Biopharmaceutics Classification Systems (BCS) as it relates to biowaivers, drug formulation and drug development in general, have made him a highly sought-after speaker and a strong advocate for continued development of novel tools that can predict human outcomes. Dr Bhoopathy is currently applying this experience to accelerate the equivalence assurance for complex drug products. In addition, he has led the commercialization of Absorption Systems’ portfolio of cell-based transporter assay systems.Dr Bhoopathy has held leadership positions at AAPS and is one of the founding Board Members of SAAMnow (Scientists Advancing Affordable Medicines), a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide a dedicated platform for scientists to share cutting-edge research that facilitates the development of high-quality, affordable medicines. He has been honored as an Emerging Leader by Pennsylvania Bio, recognized as a 40 under Forty, Most Talented Young Leader by the Philadelphia Business Journal for his leadership, vision and commitment to the life sciences industry; and more recently, Dr Bhoopathy was selected as a winner of the Executive Management Award for his creative management vision and innovative strategies.Prior to joining Absorption Systems, Dr Bhoopathy received his Bachelors in Pharmacy from Kakatiya University and a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Patrick Carr is a Retired at retired and Chief Financial Officer at Absorption Systems and is based in Exton, Pennsylvania. She has worked as Controller at SHELTER SYSTEMS and CFO at NORTHEAST BUILDING PRODUCTS. Patrick attended University of Notre Dame between 1964 and 1968.
