This position proactively supports the US Navy Commander, Naval Air Force, US Atlantic Fleet's (COMNAVAIRLANT) Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT) Project, for shipboard Auxiliary Engineering Equipment including Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Pumps, Water Heaters, Solid Waste Processing Equipment and HP / LP Air Compressors. Duties will include training and mentoring junior personnel (coworkers and customers - ships force personnel) in techniques and processes used to assess, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and operate systems and equipment while simultaneously performing hands on maintenance and repairs. #LI-MJ1 *TL *MV

What you will do

* Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
* Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
* Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks.
* Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
* Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
* Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

What you must have

* Must have High School education or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
* Must have hands-on experience with install, test, trouble shoot and repair of mechanical systems on Air Conditioning and associated systems/equipment.
* Must have experience documenting maintenance and quality assurance data.
* Must have an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
* Must have ability to train, teach and/or mentor coworkers and customer personnel in maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
* Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and/or technical manuals.
* Must have the ability to obtain a DoD confidential clearance and maintain the clearance throughout employment.
* Must be able to obtain base access credentials and maintain them throughout employment.
* Must be able to provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty,
* Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred: Bonus points for...

* Installation, test, troubleshoot and repair experience of shipboard AC&R systems and equipment preferred.
* Experience documenting maintenance and quality assurance in U.S. Navy systems preferred.
* Possession of current or active DoD security clearance a plus.
* Formal AC&R school or course certification a plus.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

Salary Schedule

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to perform skilled to advanced craft-mechanical HVAC systems work in various maintenance and service tasks for the school district. Employees in this classification function with considerable independence and latitude in judgment concerning methods, materials, and priority of assigned work orders. Work areas include, but are not necessarily limited to, performing preventative maintenance on HVAC system components, servicing air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Essential functions as outlined herein are performed according to the functional area of assignment. Performs related work as directed.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.

Performs preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules; monitors systems functioning for the purpose of recognizing potential problems; addresses such accordingly.

Performs skilled to advanced craft-mechanical air conditioning, water treatment, or refrigeration systems work in various installation, repair, maintenance and service tasks for the school district.

Observes and tests malfunctioning systems to determine cause and appropriate corrective action; reads blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals as applicable to new installations or assigned service/repair orders.

Installs, maintains or services air conditioning, water treatment or refrigeration components, controls and systems for the district, as applicable to the assigned functional area.

Installs, services or replaces components including, but not limited to, compressors, window units, electric motors, control units, fans, blowers, pumps, valves, piping, screens, filters, switches, sensors, lines, pressure gauges, drain pans, and valves.

Troubleshoots, adjusts, calibrates, repairs, and replaces electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control systems and devices.

Ensures compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards regarding air conditioning, refrigeration, and water treatment service and repair activities.

Fills out and maintains work orders and purchase orders for required materials, supplies and equipment; maintains daily activity logs and associated data records concerning the assigned air conditioning or water treatment system(s).

Performs necessary calculations in setting and adjustment of controls, setting feed and flow rates, measuring conductivity, and measuring pipe dimensions, line layout, angles and distances.

Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles utilized; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe equipment use and operation.

Responds to emergency or critical incidents in order to confine, resolve, and/or prevent environmentally hazardous conditions.

Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.

Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years progressively knowledgeable and skilled air conditioning, , or refrigeration trades work experience, with demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical specifications; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license; requires training in refrigerant handling and recovery when assigned to air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Maintain plant HVAC systems in all areas of as directed by the Maintenance Routine Facilitator.
• Supervise the record keeping, various contractors, and the inventory of parts on site for service.
• Maintain HVAC equipment inside and outside all buildings.
• Coordinate unit replacements according to dates set forth by the EPA.
• Maintain service and maintenance activities in plant maintenance software.
• Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment associated with cranes, mobile equipment, MCC rooms, and comfort areas in the plant.
• Visually inspect and diagnose the cause of equipment malfunctions.
• Perform welding repair, fabrication, pipefitting, and brazing on various metals.
• Perform data entry into SAP (work order data base system).
• Maintain equipment history.
• Recover and dispose of all refrigerant gases, and properly maintain accurate records of those activities.
• Perform new installations of equipment, including ductwork, insulating, and installing refrigeration tubing.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including on the water strainers on water-cooled units.
• Assist in development of preventative maintenance programs for new or updated equipment.
• Obtain competitive bids, when required, for projects that encompass jobs which exceed a set dollar amount for repairs or installations.
• Maintain specified records for work performed, details of repairs, and materials used.
• Operate mobile equipment to lift and transport materials, including loaders, cranes, man-lifts, brick-lift, and forklifts.
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which includes fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluid as needed.
• Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed.
• Assist in training of coworkers as needed.
• Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
• Demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
• Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
• Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Have basic computer skills; specifically, SAP experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of technical school and at least three (3) years of experience in all facets of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.
• Understanding of shop mathematics, including use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments.
• Basic knowledge of the following maintenance disciplines: High Pressure Refrigerant Systems.
• Working knowledge of mechanical and fluid power, electrical control circuits, oxygen/gas/water systems, and common maintenance hand tools.
