Raj Shanmugaraj brings more than 25 years in telecom and communications to Acacia Communications. Prior, he was Corporate Vice President, Alcatel-Lucent, responsible for business development in a variety of market segments in the Americas Region – including Optical Core Convergence. Prior to that Shanmugaraj served as Alcatel-Lucent Vice President of Optics, heading up the business development and marketing activities in the Americas Region. Shanmugaraj was a founder and CEO of Astral Point Communications, which was acquired by Alcatel in 2002. Prior to that, he has held senior executive level positions at Motorola. Shanmugaraj holds an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa.

Benny Mikkelsen has extensive expertise and experience in optical transmission technologies. Prior to co-founding Acacia Communications, Mikkelsen co-founded Mintera Corporation (acquired by Oclaro). Earlier he held engineering positions with Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies, where his research included ultra high-speed optical transmission. Mikkelsen has published more than 200 papers and conference contributions in Letters, Journals and Conferences (including approximately 25 invited papers). He is a member of the OFC Program Committee and has delivered short courses on 40G and 100G at OFC since 2005. Mikkelsen holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark
