Housed within University College, the Academic Achievement Center (AAC) provides academic support to all Ohio University students so that they can reach their highest level of academic excellence. The AAC operates four programs to assist students in fulfilling their potential:
* Peer-Assisted Learning - organized group tutoring aimed at historically difficult courses
* Peer Tutoring - one-on-one or small group, appointment-based and drop-in tutoring for many subjects
* The Writing Commons - one-on-one, appointment-based and drop-in writing assistance
* First-Generation Programming - organized group events and workshops designed for students whose parents did not earn a college degree.
This graduate assistant position provides professional learning experiences in organizing and leading undergraduate trainings/workshops, mentoring and supervising a diverse group of student leaders, assessing and developing academic success strategies, and investigating and enhancing program success through data collection, analysis, and reporting. Programs may provide additional opportunities such as hiring, onboarding, teaching, and presenting.
Although not necessary, some experience in tutoring/group learning environments is a plus. Most important incoming skills are excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong desire to supervise undergraduate student leaders, and an interest in supporting student academic success. All graduate assistants will receive extensive training and guidance to excel in this position. Because the AAC values inclusion and works towards upholding frameworks grounded in equity and social justice, all graduate assistants receive training in diversity and cultural competency throughout the duration of their assistantship.

* Collaborating to organize and facilitate student leader trainings
* Supervising/managing undergraduate student leaders
