Part Time (2 days per week for 7.5 hours per day at a rate of $25 per hour).
Under the direction and with the support of school counselors and the principal(s), our College and Career Counselor will create and manage a welcoming College and Career Center at the high school. Our counselor will provide a wealth of career information and materials and will be available to chat with students, faculty, parents, and community members about career planning and college admissions.
Duties:
Provide career and college entrance information and assistance to students, teachers, parents and
counselors; coordinate day-to-day operations and schedule activities, programs and speakers.
Prepare career education and instructional materials for use by teachers and students; assist students in
locating and using college/career information as needed for research, assignments and post-high school
training.
Train and support the implementation of Career Cruising College and Career planning software.
Facilitate Counselors with interest inventories; career experience and 4-year planning.
Obtain, organize, file and display guidance materials; catalog and prepare for use by students; maintain
displays and bulletin boards.
Plan, organize, develop and implement career events and publications; prepare letters, flyers, matters and
other material to publicize Career Center services, resources and speaker programs.
Contact, schedule and arrange guest speakers from the local business community, colleges and military
services to present information regarding specific occupation.
Schedule visitations by representatives from local colleges; organize, coordinate and publicize career-
related events and other opportunities; obtain and circulate current college catalogs.
Develop and maintain a current and comprehensive occupational library including information on career
and career clusters, employment prospects and trends and employment requirements and opportunities;
obtain and circulate current college catalogs
Provide information concerning scholastic aptitude and achievement tests; assist students with applications
and scheduling; distribute test results as appropriate
Assist students with Career Center material and equipment.
Prepare and deliver informational presentation as requested; orient students to Career Center resources
and services.
Maintain a current inventory of Career Center equipment and materials; assist in determining purchase
priorities.
Plan and conduct Career Days, Career Month, Teen Job Fairs, or College Fairs.
Attend meetings, conferences and seminars regarding career trends, college entrance and financial aid.
Perform related duties as assigned.

About the Position:
The MSSC is seeking a highly motivated and versatile non-student wage employee for a part-time position as a Forms Processing Specialist. The Forms Processing Specialist is responsible for updating official student records based on academic program change request forms. Job Description
The Virginia Tech Innovation Campus program coordinator is a part-time (20 to 29 hours per week) position that will provide on-site and off-site support for the K-12 Program. The focus of the program coordinator position is to facilitate the planning, delivery and reporting of educational, cultural, leadership, and social development enrichment activities for elementary, middle and high school program participants. This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations and off military installations. These services may include non-medical counseling, training/ health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel, schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB School counselors will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for a school position. CYB School counselors will also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation and the schools.

Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone, or web application, to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provides appropriate linkages. Consistently visible within the school which allows MFLC services to be accessible when working with children, the counselor must abide by line of sight protocol (another adult with responsibility for the child must be able to see the counselor and child they are working with at all times).

About the Position
This position is responsible for providing crisis intervention counseling, individual and group therapy, advocacy and outreach services to YWCA South Hampton Roads clients and allied professionals. Reports to the COO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Military Family Life School Counselor
Yorktown, VA
In this position you will work in a School on base or surrounding the base as a Military School Counselor full time or part time. You must hold a VA independent license such as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Counselor Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) and be local to the installation. Relocation assistance may be available.
This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations and off military installations. These services may include non-medical counseling, training/ health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel, schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB School counselors will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for a school position. CYB School counselors will also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation and the schools.
+ Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused, counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.
+ CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of DoDEA , community schools, summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent training and guidance.
+ Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
+ Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone, or web application, to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
+ Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provides appropriate linkages. Consistently visible within the school which allows MFLC services to be accessible when working with children, the counselor must abide by line of sight protocol (another adult with responsibility for the child must be able to see the counselor and child they are working with at all times).
+ Partners with POC to provide CYB services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation/facility. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation/facility POC.
+ Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to DoD protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
+ Communicates with Regional Supervisor and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations and in facilities to which they are assigned. Responds to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. The CYB will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
+ Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, pilot programs other contract activities as assigned/appropriate as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

Master's Degree from an accredited Graduate Program in a Mental Health related field.
Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner. A minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience
Demonstrate intermediate-level competencies in technology and software (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation, video-conferencing platform navigation).

Job Duties
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors promote breastfeeding among WIC participants, health care workers and the community. They attend local, regional, or state breastfeeding promotion and support training when possible. They operate within the BFPC scope of practice as defined in the WIC Breastfeeding Curriculum. Participates in multidisciplinary team case conferencing to develop and implement WIC participant service plans. May represent Local Agency and WIC on interdisciplinary workgroups, taskforces, or coalitions. May receive supervision from the district Breastfeeding Coordinator or WIC Designated Breastfeeding Expert (DBE). Breastfeeding Peer Counseling training via the most current USDA FNS Training Platform is provided.
Typical Duties:
1. Provides breastfeeding encouragement, information, and counsel to prenatal and breastfeeding participants.
2. Provides anticipatory education about the normal course of breastfeeding.
3. Conducts support group meeting and assists the nutritionist with individual and other group sessions.
4. Contacts participants at predetermined intervals per WIC policy to provide counsel, encouragement, and information to maintain lactation. Is available to participants outside of usual clinic hours and the WIC clinic environment. Identifies problems or potential problems necessitating referral to the nutritionist, or WIC Designated Breastfeeding Expert (DBE).
5. Recruits participants to attend nutrition education classes by making clinic, telephone, and/or mail contacts.
6. Maintains logs of patient contacts, completes monthly activity reports and other health department forms as required. Utilizes the Crossroads system.
7. May plan and participate in community outreach events for WIC participants, particularly during Breastfeeding Awareness Month. Plans local agency breastfeeding promotion events. Creates and maintain a breastfeeding-friendly environment.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
The appointment is to a restricted position which is solely funded by USDA WIC for a one-year period ending September 30, 2024. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.
