This position works on a team to provide overall support to the UNC School of Medicine Novant Health Charlotte Campus. Supervises (non-employee) students while enrolled at the regional campus. Being onsite, this position assists the director in the development, scheduling, and management of regional campus and supervises the physical learning space at Presbyterian Medical Tower. Working with faculty, students and academic resources in Charlotte and Chapel Hill, curriculum enrollment, management and assessment will be facilitated and managed with the use of online platforms. Availability to students and faculty is a primary duty as well as working knowledge of audio/visual technology for the virtual classroom. This position acts as Chief Proctor for national board exams and ensures a secure testing environment. Prepares, reviews and presents sensitive documents related to student progress, compensation and program evaluation. Qualifications

* Education: High School or GED, Required. Bachelor's degree or 4 years Degree, Preferred.
* Experience: 3 years in healthcare and/or educational setting, Required.
* Additional Skills required:
* In person, onsite work environment.
* At least intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products to include Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Teams.
* Ability to observe confidentiality and professional standards (example: FERPA, HIPAA, social media, etc.).
* Availability to triage and/or handle student concerns during nontraditional work hours.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Demonstrated ability to solve problems and reliability.

* Additional Skills preferred:Experience using Canvas, Sakai or similar learning management platforms. Experience with minor video recording, editing and posting.

The Academic Interventionist is responsible for working directly with students in to provide tutoring, coaching, goal-setting, and academic case management to achieve measurable improvements in academic performance. Must have an authentic interest in the academic growth and development of students, as well as the ability to provide a safe and trustworthy learning environment.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitate students' improvement in assigned subject(s), and increase engagement as a result of their sustained participation in KIPP's blended learning programs

Manage classroom behavior to create a productive learning environment

Provide academic intervention that is active and enables learning and recall of new knowledge strengthened through different exposures of “doing” (i.e., seeing, hearing, touching, and doing)

Provide academic intervention that is collaborative and is socially-centered, allowing young people to build skills through learning as a team

Create lesson plans based on student needs as required; and program partnerships with parents, teachers and other supportive services

Provide academic intervention that is meaningful increases motivation by creating experiences relevant to students' own interests, and the world in which they live

Provide academic intervention that supports mastery that provides young people the opportunity to gain and practice new skills and habits

Lead small-group tutoring, coaching, goal-setting and academic case management designed to bridge the gaps in students' understanding

Foster the joy of mastery that culminates in an event or product to be viewed and celebrated by peers and family members

Provide academic intervention that expands horizons and facilitates learning that goes beyond the walls of site facilities and uses the surrounding community as a classroom, bringing in individuals and businesses that young people may not otherwise come into contact

Blended Learning Connections

Maintain ongoing communication with parents to obtain information to better serve students and maintain program quality; this includes, but is not limited to the distribution of progress reports, programmatic materials, etc.

Collect/enter student data on academic gains and other outcome targets. Consistent completion of all required documentation: forms, grade checks, assessments, attendance records, etc.

Organize own work daily, weekly, and monthly to ensure key deadlines are met and is completed on time and according to established policies and procedures

Communicate student progress as-needed to core-content teachers

Additional duties and responsibilities

Manage a classroom of 25 students Participate in required trainings and national days of service outlined by KIPP Memphis

Provides age-appropriate programs and services in a safe and nurturing environment while helping youth advance in three core focus areas of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford; (a) academic success, (b) healthy lifestyles, and (c) good character & citizenship. To allow every youth to progress differently in each area, with a primary focus on academic outcomes. Creates a warm and caring environment where youth feel comfortable taking growth-related risks and provides the appropriate levels of assistance where all youth can flourish.

+ Collects data and assists with accurately reporting on program and service delivery, as well as, impact
+ Displays a high level of enthusiasm and commitment toward Club members and activities

+ Engages in a wide variety of community partnerships.

+ Ensures the safety of members, demonstrates positive values, and ethical behavior during service and program delivery

+ Fosters college and career readiness programs and family engagement

+ Implements, facilitates, and coordinates assigned program services and educational curricula for youth that are recreational, educational, and progressive

+ Maintains positive and healthy relationships with members, their parents and/or guardians, and school staff

+ Participates in the evaluation of Club programs on a consistent basis and ensures programs and activities respond to stakeholder needs and expectations

+ Supports academic achievement of Club members

+ Performs other program and organization-related assignments as services and needs change, evolve, and grow & as assigned

This is a part-time position, hours of work are:

+ Monday & Tuesday: 2:45pm to 6:00pm

+ Wednesday: 12:00pm-4:00pm

+ Thursday & Friday: 2:45pm-6:00pm

Special events and activities may involve a change in schedule and weekend hours. School vacation (winter, spring, summer) will alter these hours.

Requirements

+ High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Certificate

+ Knowledge of youth development with a minimum of 6 months of experience in youth programs

+ Associate's degree with experience in youth programs is desirable

+ Cultural competency working with Latino and African-American populations in an urban school district extremely beneficial

+ Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form

+ Candidates should have flexibility, patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn new related skills

+ Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products

+ PSL endorsement on a valid CT driver's license is a plus

Salary Description

$16-$18 an hour
