The Tutor/Academic Coach and student will identify appropriate strategies and study habits that lead to course success and personal success and focus on helping students to develop highly effective habits that can range from strategic thinking, to problem solving, to oral communication/presentation skills. This part-time, non-exempt position requires specialized knowledge or skills in the particular subject the tutor is tutoring. This position requires well-developed people skills demonstrating the ability to relate to students, specifically to their academic needs. The individual must have the ability to think critically, solve problems and keep accurate records. Also, this position requires being technologically sufficient to use the online tutoring platform. Specific Responsibilities: A. Clarifies information presented in class or textbooks. B. Helps students learn how to think about concepts in courses. C. Engages the student in discussing ways to work through problems. D. Demonstrates effective ways to study and learn including working with students on their individual academic plan (such as note taking, time management, test preparation, active studying, social adjustment, coping with stress management, etc.). E. Offers support and encouragement. F. Completes all required records and forms. G. Maintains confidentiality. H. Signs into the tutoring platform when scheduled. I.
