Job Description and Responsibilities
Applies both cash and accrual accounting principles to prepare, analyze, maintain and deliver complete and accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP).
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger closing
Ensures that expenses, deposits, owner distributions, funding requests and other financial transactions for a given period have been accurately posted
Participate in all areas of accounts payable, receivable and weekly check runs, including proper account coding in relation to annual budgets and GL consistency
Perform bank reconciliations, wire transfers, ACH payments, mortgage payments, sales and property tax payments and owner distributions
Preparation and review of annual CAM reconciliations
Compile and analyze complex financial information to complete various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analysis
Participates in the “on-boarding” and “off-boarding” of managed properties
Ability to assist with lease abstract analysis, property software setups and opening/closing GL entry generation
Researches and resolves issues or requests from clients or internal team members regarding various accounting issues and/or reports
Assist and/or perform special projects assigned by management
Ensure adherence to policies/procedures, and maintain effective internal controls
Requirements
College degree in accounting, finance or related field, and/or equivalent experience that demonstrates the thorough understanding, application and usage of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
Knowledge of commercial property management is a plus
Detail oriented with strong analytical, accounting and problem solving skills
Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty, while taking ownership of his/her work product
Effective organization and time management abilities
