About the Role:

Confluent is seeking a motivated Revenue Accounting Lead to join our Revenue Operations team. In this role, you will be involved in both revenue accounting and improvement for automation. You will participate in the global revenue process, including assisting with contract review, month-end close procedures, significant process evolution and interaction with internal and external auditors.

The ideal candidate is an experienced CPA (or with equivalent practical experience) with at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or a high-tech organization with a minimum of 2 years in a revenue specific role. You should have experience from a global, growing software company that has SaaS revenue.

Due to the fast-paced and high growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail oriented, have the ability to operate effectively and independently in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment to help drive the Company's continued growth, and a willingness to roll-up their sleeves when needed.

This position will be remote and will report to the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager.
What You Will Do: Assist and lead team in performing worldwide monthly financial close related tasks such as analyzing revenue contracts and related SaaS usage, reconciling revenue and deferred revenue related accounts, preparing management reporting, and executing key internal controls Gain a deep understanding of SaaS consumption data and systems that generate that data, and propose process improvements using that knowledge Coach, mentor and supervise direct report(s) Partner with FP&A team and other business partners within the company on numerous projects Participate in revenue and billing systems automation, improvement and optimization Work closely with the external audit team regarding quarterly review and annual audit requirements; assist in managing audit and lead team in preparing revenue related schedules for audit support Review non-standard revenue contracts and assess impact on revenue accounting and disclosures Prepare or review footnote or other analyses for quarterly financial statement disclosures
What You Will Bring: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent practical experience4 years of progressively responsible experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm or a combination of Big 4 and industry revenue experience, preferably with exposure to a high-tech organization People management experience a plus Working knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606), preferably with exposure to consumption based revenue recognition Keen interest in understanding how systems and processes are connected and how data is generated and flows through systems Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret large sets of data Attention to detail and experience prioritizing competing priorities to deliver impact in a fast-paced environment Experience with NetSuite and NetSuite ARM a plus Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel CPA certification or equivalent practical experience a plus

Job Description – Area Lead – Forensic Accounting


This is a hybrid position. There are flexible work from home options available.


As an Area Lead on the Forensic Accounting team you will:


  • Lead a team of forensic accountants.
  • Be a part of a high-growth, high energy work environment.
  • Work across the firm and for a range of industry factors.
  • Initiate and lead open conversations with teams, clients, and stakeholders to build trust and client relationships.
  • Review and measurement of large loss commercial insurance claims and other assignments. Claims include property damage, product recall, liability, theft/fidelity, and business interruption/lost profits. Businesses will consist of a wide range of industries and sizes.
  • Attend existing and new client meetings (telephone, online, or in-person) and communicate findings in meetings to clients and team members.


Basic Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree with a major in accounting, finance or economics.
  • 10+ years of public accounting experience or closely related field; preferably with some experience in forensic accounting and/or measuring commercial insurance claim losses.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with ability to do VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
