Job Description Job Title: Math Tutor (Part Time) General Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Director of Educational Development, plans and facilitates collaborative math tutoring sessions for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Tutors Additional Information: Show/Hide Math Support Tutor Reports to: Principal Description: Math Support Tutors work up to 2-3 days a week, at the established rate of $25.00 per hour. Essential Functions: * Assist classroom teachers, as assigned by the principal, in use of student data to plan small group and individual standards-based instruction * Assist teachers with full implementation of district initiatives; * Assist teachers with planning instructional interventions for students based upon the data; * Implement interventions with small groups or individual students within the classroom environment; * Monitor student progress through conferencing and assessments to determine effectiveness of instruction; * Support effective use of instructional time by coaching student individual work, by delivering targeted small group lessons, and by conferencing with students about learning; * Assist teacher with the development of learning centers or stations to address critical needs in skill development; assist teachers with facilitation of station work during differentiated learning time. The Math Support Tutor is designated to enhance classroom instruction and improve student outcomes by providing targeted academic support in math. Support tutors will work closely with classroom teachers to analyze student data, plan, and deliver small-group and individual, standards-based instruction tailored to student needs. Additionally, tutors will assist teachers in implementing district initiatives and delivering classroom interventions. By working up to 2-3 days per week, these tutors will play a crucial role in supporting the district's mission to provide equitable and effective instructional support, fostering student growth and achievement. Part-time Math Tutor Walsh Jesuit High School has an opening for a tutor to staff the Walsh Jesuit Math Lab on a part-time basis, two days per week during the school day, 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Applicants should have a current State of Ohio Teaching License in High School Mathematics and the ability to tutor algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. Under the direction of the Extended Learning Specialist and/or Lead Tutor, the position of part time Tutor is responsible to provide intensive and extensive tutorial services. The Part Time Tutor position includes tutoring Kindergarten through 8th grade students in the content subjects of Mathematics and Reading. Instruction and activities are designed expressly to prepare students for standardized achievement test and to teach study skills. Activities may include practicing different types of test questions or taking practice tests. Tutoring services can occur after school or before school. Must be 18 years or older and meet academic standards for tutoring and demonstrate competence in analyzing student's academic needs and effectively provide solutions and support in assisting the student to reach their academic potential. Must complete all necessary trainings. Must possess an understanding and knowledge of public school functions, as well as, specific knowledge in age-appropriate curriculum. Must demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills and possess good organization skills and ability to reason and solve problems. Starting Salary: $13.00
