Position Information:
Administers high quality, customer service, and focused billing and collection services for treatment without transport, standby, and emergent and non-emergent medical transportation, including air and ground transports. Responsible to ensure the confidentiality and security of patient and billing records.
Hours: 40 hours/week (non-exempt), Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible to obtain pre-authorization from insurance companies as needed
Responsible to receive, sort, and scan transport documentation from previous days' transports and distributes priority billing to appropriate staff
Responsible to check and verify online insurance, government subscriber, and hospital databases to determine effective coverage, deductibles and out-of-pocket (OOP) limits
Responsible to review Patient Care Reports (PCR's) and verify that all documentation is consistent and clear as well as determining appropriate coverage. Using ambulance coding standards and in compliance with Medicare regulations, determine the level of service, diagnosis code(s), medical necessity and to write a narrative summary
Responsible to receive payments and supporting payment information and to post to accounts in an accurate and timely manner
Responsible to provided excellent customer service and assistance to patients, customers and/or visitors by telephone, in person and by mail.
Qualification Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Medical billing administration education is preferred
A minimum of three (3) years' healthcare provider billing and collections experience required;
Certified Ambulance Coding and/or medical billing administration certification is preferred
Demonstrates the ability to work independently in a constructive and professional manner, ability to be organized, detail-oriented, problem solve and be a team player
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook and web-based applications.
