Accutron company history timeline

1989

In 1989, Andrew Tisch took over the leadership of another Loews subsidiary and was replaced at Bulova by Herbert Hofmann.

1990

By 1990, Bulova was the only major United States-owned watchmaker left in the business, and its $182 million in sales was dwarfed by the $2.6 billion in revenue generated by industry leader Seiko of Japan.

1991

Convinced that classic models were finding their way back into fashion, Bulova reintroduced the Accutron in 1991, after seven years out of circulation.

1996

In 1996, the firm became part of Royal Doulton's licensing program and it began producing a line of glass, wood, and brass clocks, which was incorporated into Royal Doulton's china patterns.

1998

In 1998, the Millennia Collection was launched and featured watches with innovative technological designs.

2000

In early 2000, the company launched the second part to its e-commerce phase by forming a partnership with Polygon Networks Inc., a designer and maintainer of retail and supplier web sites.

2001

In 2001, Bulova continued expanding its product lines.

2008

In 2008, Bulova's assets were acquired by Citizen, a Japanese manufacturer of mid-grade dress watches.

2010

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Accutron in 2010, Bulova produced a 1,000 limited and numbered range of the Spaceview.
