ACDelco company history timeline

1918

Initially, United Motors Corporation was separate from GM, until GM acquired it in 1918.

1920

Kettering, himself, was hired as the head of General Motors's new research division and became a vice president in the company in 1920.

William C. Durant lost control of GM for the final time in 1920.

1927

Herbert C. Harrison was President of Harrison Radiator until his death in 1927.

In 1927 AC became a division of General Motors.

1960

Around 1960, the division’s name was changed to United Delco.

1994

AC Delco Systems was formed in 1994 from merger of AC Rochester Division and Delco Remy Division.

1995

1995 saw a re-branding of AC-Delco.
