General Summary: The Foreman will support the Superintendent or Project Manager in the oversight of the operations and field personnel responsible for the installation, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials/equipment for the assigned job. The Foreman functions as a crew leader or team lead on Job Project tasks or on smaller jobs. Preferred Job Skills: * Strong commercial and industrial electrical background. * Bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred. * Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing sophisticated test equipment (DMM, Megger, PQM, UCT, IR Camera, etc.). * Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC). * Ability to safely operate and maintain a specialized electrical service vehicle. * Able to maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times. * Able to demonstrate necessary computer and keyboard skills. * OSHA 30 Hour, CPR, and First Aid trained. * Ability to manage customer and company specific information and documentation in an organized manner. * Able to maintain high levels of productivity, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy. * Must be an effective and professional communicator, both written and verbally. * Able to be on twenty-four hour call on a rotating basis, as needed. About this Role Step two will introduce the Apprentice to energized secondary work, de-energized primary framing, and bucket truck operation. Step two Apprentice may perform energized secondary work (up to 480 Volts) while being directly supervised by a Lineman or Foreman. The person supervising must be at the same physical location as the Apprentice (on the pole with or in the bucket with/adjacent to). Step two Apprentice may not be within reach or extended reach of the minimum approach distance of any energized primary conductor or equipment while working aloft. What You'll Do The following is a list of the kind of tasks the step two Apprentice should be engaged in and learning while on the job in addition to those tasks listed from the previous step. Proper use of aerial lifts, (Bucket truck). Basic aerial lift Material handlers Secondary connections Phasing or paralleling secondary circuits. Taking voltage, amperage, or resistance readings on secondary circuits. Tying/attaching conductors to insulators on de-energized circuits. Sagging secondaries and services. Dead-ending and clipping services and secondary conductors. Assisting lineman with de-energized transformer connections. Work from pole or bucket. Test de-energized primary lines, tag, and apply protective grounds. De-energized primary framing and hardware installation. Hanging crossarms from the pole de-energize circuits. Drilling and fastening with impact (hydraulic) tools. Using hand powered crimping tools. Courses commonly assigned to step two Apprentices from the T&D Power Skills training website are as follows. About this Role Step seven will be used to allow the Apprentice time to season and put to use all of the hands-on skills learned through steps one through six. Step seven instructions will focus on pre-Foreman leadership and planning skills. Step seven Apprentices will mentor on the job, lower step apprentices to help hone and demonstrate instruction and leadership skills. Step seven Apprentices may work up to and including energized primary circuits without direct supervision, as long as they can be observed by a qualified employee with the skills necessary to rescue them in the event of an emergency.
