Aerospace GTAW Fabrication Specialist
Ace Precision 4.3
Ace Precision job in Oconomowoc, WI
Ace Precision is a trusted partner to the Aerospace, Power Generation, Defense, Space, and Aftermarket Repair & Overhaul sectors. For over 40 years, our teams have pushed the boundaries of craft and technology so customers can fly farther, move faster, and perform with absolute confidence.
We're expanding in Wisconsin-and your next chapter could start in Oconomowoc or Menomonee Falls. Join a growing manufacturing team where quality and precision are the flight plan.
A Day in This Role
You arrive to a clean, well-equipped weld bay. The job traveler and sample part tell the story of the component in your hands-an aerospace-grade assembly destined for commercial aircraft today and a defense application tomorrow. You verify dimensions and tolerances from sketches, routings, and process control sheets, set up your station, confirm backup gas requirements, and dial in parameters for manual GTAW/TIG on similar and dissimilar alloys. As you run, you interpret welding symbols (AWS A2.4) with ease and apply terminology from AWS A3.0, adjusting technique as the puddle and heat input demand. Each weldment gets a careful visual inspection. If an indication appears, you repair, document, and report it without hesitation.
What You'll Work On
Manual Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on a diversified line of standard parts used across aviation, defense vehicles, power generation systems, and spacecraft.
Independent setup, positioning, and execution of GTAW on stainless, nickel, and cobalt alloys-including 17-4PH, Inconel 718, and Haynes 188.
Application of parameter control and knowledge of equipment features and shielding/backup gas requirements to achieve consistent, high-spec results.
Contribution to developing and revising written work instructions governing GTAW operations.
Thorough visual inspection, indication identification, repair, and defect reporting.
Credentials That Help You Succeed
Certification to groove and fillet weld on 0.020” and 0.064” material (stainless steel, nickel alloy, cobalt alloy) to AWS D17.1 Class A.
Comfort with welding symbols, terms, and definitions per AWS A2.4 and AWS A3.0.
High school diploma or GED plus at least two years of relevant experience/training, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
