ACE Rent A Car history
ACE Rent A Car company history timeline
Founded in 1987 in Auckland, New Zealand as Ace Tourist Rentals (NZ) Ltd. by John Chatterley and Warrick Purdie, Ace identified the consumer need for an alternative to the high-priced multi-national car rental brands to serve the budget-focused domestic and inbound travel market.
Following Sorensen's death in 1995, his nephew Richard Radzis and long-time employee, Charlie Mullen, took over as primary owners.
In 2003 Ace seized the opportunity to expand operations to Australia, opening a branch in Sandgate, Brisbane, strategically positioned halfway between the CBD and the Airport.
As of 2020, the ACE Rent A Car brand had more than 300 licensed locations in over 45 countries, and is now the largest system of independent rental car operators in the world
