Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Comply with company requirements in completing essential documentation, as required. Train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements. Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury. Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment. What you'll do: This is a hands-on position primarily machining with some assembly duties. The position supports the Prototype Engineer for quick response on prototyping needs for customer projects. CNC and manual machining skills will be needed in this position. This is a fast-paced job with variety in projects. The Shop Machinist is responsible for the set-up and operations of Engine Lathes, Horizontal boring mills, VTL's, maintaining equipment and supplies. Essential Job Functions Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values. Operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce precision parts and instruments. Reviews engineering specifications for a work order and performs calculations to determine the right tools, materials, and sequence of cutting and finishing operations. Measures, examines and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines. Monitors the accuracy of machining work. Job Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience with CNC machines and manual lathes or relevant industry experience preferred. Ability to read a Calipers and Micrometers preferred. Ability to provide all hand tools as needed to complete daily tasks specified by the Shop Foreman. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Machine to dimensions and tolerances set by blueprint. Detect and report defective material or questionable conditions to supervisor. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Education/Requirements: Must read a tape measure an other measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc) Must have at least 3 years of CNC and Lathe manual experience. Ability to read blueprints.
