What you will bring to Acorns:

Summary of Role

The Solar Service Technician is a utility player who can support Service, Installation, Job Closeout, Permitting/Inspection, etc. They are the go-to person to help with ongoing Services needs throughout the 25+ year lifespan of a customer's solar system, helping to build strong lifetime customer relationships.
This role reports directly to the Services Sr. Manager, with a dotted line to the local Regional Director or Installation Manager.
Strategic & Tactical
Provide onsite troubleshooting and repair of solar systems.
Document visit and complete job close out report.
Schedule site visits directly with the customer when required.
Work with local field teams and central scheduling to optimize resolutions times.
Provide feedback to field team leadership, driving continuous improvement of Palmetto's installation quality and execution.

Summary of Role
The Quality Control Technician, HVAC is responsible for the review and close-out of project milestone packages consisting of sales and design plans and documentation, installation photos and verification measures for HVAC installation and service projects. The primary objective of this role is to ensure high-quality standards for HVAC systems, verify compliance with sales and design specifications, and identify necessary remediations to maintain strong system performance and customer satisfaction (systems designed to operate efficiently for the manufactured useful life of 15+ years). They will also evaluate HVAC monitoring and control platforms to verify proper configuration and ensure installed systems meet design specifications and energy efficiency goals.
Through daily project throughput review, the technician will approve or reject project milestones promptly and communicate feedback to external contractors or partners. They will support the organization's accountability and quality improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of excellence across all operations. In addition to desktop reviews, some programs may require on-site inspections, including accessing mechanical rooms, rooftops, and ductwork to assess installation quality and provide feedback to certified contractors.
Strategic/Tactical Responsibilities
Conduct detailed review and close-outs of project photos, documents, and designs.
Apply advanced knowledge of HVAC quality control standards and system operation criteria.
Verify system performance data and ensure installed HVAC equipment aligns with sales and design specifications.

Sr. Financial Reporting & Technical Accountant | Acorns

We're seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to help ensure that the foundation is accurate, transparent, and aligned with the highest standards. In this role, you'll prepare internal financial reports, statements, and disclosures, all while applying a strong command of GAAP. You'll dive into technical accounting research to guide the proper treatment of complex transactions and help implement new accounting standards with confidence and clarity.
You'll also collaborate closely with external auditors during annual reviews and partner with third-party consultants on valuations and other key initiatives - all to ensure our reporting reflects the trust our customers place in us every day.
Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
What you will do at Acorns:
Develop a deep understanding of Acorns' products, business model, and financial landscape
Learn and improve existing external and internal reporting processes, while getting up to speed on prior technical accounting positions
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and support the creation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including related disclosures and tie-outs
Conduct technical accounting research, draft memos, and determine appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions and new GAAP standards
Ensure compliance with disclosure requirements through detailed checklists and thorough documentation
Maintain and refine our quarterly reporting cadence, financial reporting calendar, and internal PBC lists
Identify process gaps and implement effective controls to strengthen the financial reporting and technical accounting functions
Support external auditors throughout the financial statement review and ensure compliance with SOX controls
Partner with third-party consultants for M&A valuations and other specialized services
Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, and other departments on external financial communications
Continuously improve and automate monthly reporting and related workflows
Contribute to special projects and take on additional responsibilities as needed
What you will bring to Acorns:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
CPA certification (required)
Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred
Experience in financial reporting for a publicly traded company is a plus
Familiarity with financial and reporting systems such as Workiva and Cube is highly desirable
Prior experience with an ERP system preferred (Workday)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to problem solve and provide solutions on complex issues
Self-starter with ability to work independently, but unafraid to ask questions
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Driven to learn fast, be creative, and win as a team
Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner

Compensation Information:

Deep knowledge of software architecture, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), system scalability, coding standards, databases, and incident management.
Experience leading AI-driven engineering initiatives and automation strategies.
