Duties and Responsibilities:

MANTECH seeks a motivated and technically capable Transmission Technician to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Division's maintenance and refurbishment operations, based in Port Hueneme, CA.
This position offers an opportunity to develop hands-on expertise overhauling Navy Standard Transmissions (NSTs) and directly contribute to the readiness of UNREP systems. You will grow into a key engineering technician, supporting transmission overhauls, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with ship engineers and UNREP Division personnel. This is an Onsite Position.
Responsibilities are but not limited to:
* Become a competent engineering technician in the field of UNREP NST overhaul, maintenance, and testing through on-the-job learning and training at the UNREP Test Site
* Complete Qualification standards associated with Transmission overhaul
* Assist with UNREP equipment overhaul at the UNREP Test Site, including troubleshooting transmissions and other UNREP station equipment
* Support the Transmission team and government leadership in collaboration with ship engineers to remotely troubleshoot NST issues
* After one year of training and qualification, travel to ships to execute emergent NST maintenance requirements
* Utilize wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions to complete electrical refurbishment requirement for NSTs
* Maintain detailed records of NST overhaul, testing, and report findings to team leadership
* Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and management, including delivering presentations and reporting on maintenance findings
* Work in an industrial environment while adhering to technical specifications and safety regulations
* Ability to obtain a US passport and willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally to support shipboard maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED)
* 2+ years of experience in a technical field completing maintenance or experience in the military as a Machinists Mate or Electrician's Mate aboard a US Naval vessel, a technician in automotive shop completing complex maintenance on engines, or a technician in working in an industrial environment completing maintenance on complex equipment systems
* Must possess ability to complete on the job training and Training Qualification Standards on system fundamentals and refurbishment maintenance execution
Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with Navy mechanical equipment and conducting overhaul maintenance
* Experience completing industrial or automotive maintenance evolutions
* Exposure or experience in using technical manuals, wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal and written instructions to perform maintenance and repairs
* Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with military systems
