Summary The Activity Specialist is responsible for designing and facilitating project-based learning experiences within a specialization. ______________________________________________________________________
Essential Functions: Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc. Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources. Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Minimum Qualifications: College Student or High School Graduate 18 yrs. or older. 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization. Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and aptitude for motivating people. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently. Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
Qualifications Preferred: Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others based on client needs.

SUMMARY: The Activity Specialist delivers targeted, structured programming for families with children in a homeless shelter; in an area of personal expertise (i.e. specific sport or art medium) through a Positive Youth Development context that fosters growth and learning, maximizes safety, and instills hope and motivation. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivers targeted instruction in an agreed upon program area to enhance after-school programming. Most programs will be delivered once or twice a week for a specified number of weeks per activity cycle.
- Responsible for the well-being of a group of participating youth during the instruction period. Ensures the safety of all participants throughout the instruction period.
- Leads the specified activity instruction in a manner that is designed to increase self-esteem and teach important life skills.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
College Degree preferred, High school Diploma/GED required and expertise in the specific area that he/she will be teaching. High energy, dynamic personality and genuine passion for youth needed. Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs and ability to climb steps.
