General Maintenance Technician
Full time job in Ada, OK
Type: Full-Time Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Performs interior and exterior building operations, renovations and repairs to campus buildings which require the carpentry field. Performs repairs and maintenance as needed to buildings such as general carpentry, cabinet and shelf making, walls, doors, floors, and mechanical devices such as door openers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Building interior alterations and renovations to include:
o Tear down and wreck out existing areas within buildings
o Lay out new walls, ceilings, doors, cabinets and floors
o Frame and build new ceilings to include staple-up tile on wood, metal grid-work with lay-in tile, and sheet-rock
o Set in new door jams both metal and wood and install new doors and locks
o Install new cabinets, bulletin boards, coat racks, etc
o Lay floor tile, carpet, and vinyl or rubber base
o Install plastic laminate and counter tops
o Install new windows and storm windows
· Provide trouble call service making general repairs to all interior and exterior portions of nay buildings on campus that relate
· Exterior alterations and renovations, functions to include:
o Clean and seal building exteriors
o Make repairs to windows and storm windows
o Roof repair
o Form, pour, and finish new concrete sidewalks and curbs
· Cabinetmaker/mill-man, functions to include:
o Lay out cabinets, make cutting lists, mill materials, build cabinets, install plastic laminate, and install cabinets
o Build bookcases, picture frames, bulletin boards, stools, and trim work
· Assists in other areas of maintenance
· Operation of company vehicles to perform on the job duties
· Performs other work-related duties as assigned
· Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
· Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
· Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
· Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking
· Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time
· Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
· Other duties as assigned by Director of Physical Plant or designee

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
Language skills
Must be able to orally communicate in fluent English, using a two-way radio system. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; and implement verbal and written instructions.
Other skills and abilities
Ability to use hand tools and power tools common to the carpentry and maintenance fields, knowledge of chemicals used in the carpentry and maintenance fields. Employee must have good organizational skills.
