The Position: The Driver will provide safe and courteous transportation to the individuals we serve with disabilities while being able to communicate to clients, families, deal with difficult behaviors from their residences to and from day programs, and other trips as assigned. The route will begin at 5:30am-9am and then 1:30pm-4:30pm in Goshen/Elkhart. Job Responsibilities: Assist with light personal care as needed Assist with Medical Emergencies on routes as needed Flexibility with split shift for pick up and drop off times for individuals served Record odometer readings daily Maintained on vehicles (i.e., add fuel, report mechanical difficulties) Report any difficult behaviors on route to appropriate program manager Record individuals serves on bus each day Job Requirements: High school Diploma or Equivalent CDL required upon hire with ADEC's assistance Ability to lift 60 pounds including kneeing, and bending for wheelchair lift as needed Valid driver's license Proof of car insurance Pass background and negative drug test Why Should you Apply? Education and/or Experience: * Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. * High school diploma or GED is required; some college coursework is preferred. * Experience working with children or youth in a camp, school, or recreational setting is required. * Previous experience at Conner Prairie Adventure Camp is required; two or more summers preferred. * Experience operating a zipline, ropes course, or challenge course is desired. * Must be adaptable and open to new experiences. * Must maintain high professional standards in alignment with Conner Prairie values. * Must demonstrate a friendly, patient, and approachable demeanor.
