We are looking to add a colleague who enjoys providing classroom and laboratory instruction in Medical Coding and Health Information Management to students enrolled in certificate programs. Job Summary
The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Quantum Optics, Quantum Entanglement & Quantum Information.
Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, single-photon qubit manipulations, quantum interconnects, entangled-photon light-matter interactions, quantum information transmission, and quantum entanglement and decoherence.
This hire would be part of a bold effort at RPI to strengthen and extend our current faculty cluster in Quantum Information, aligned with the broader research initiatives in the RPI Forward 10-year Strategic Plan. The candidate would also interact with our current Physics faculty on non-linear and quantum optics and photon entanglement, as well as with researchers from Material Science and Electrical Engineering. The position also represents a response to federal priorities expressed in the National Quantum Initiative Act.
The successful candidate will establish and maintain an externally-funded research program, participate in high-impact collaborative research in this field, and contribute to the high-quality teaching program in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy
This position is part of a faculty cluster hire funded by support from the Simons Foundation designed to stimulate research in the basic sciences across New York State.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree or an equivalent foreign qualification in Physics or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is highly preferred. The Clinical Assistant Professor will teach masters and undergraduate literacy courses via on-campus, online, and hybrid formats and provide service related to practicum experiences and culminating projects within the Department of Literacy Teaching and Learning. The Clinical Assistant Professor will advise both new and continuing students and facilitate workshops and orientations. They will also engage in curriculum development and support accreditation. This 12-month position will have an initial one-year appointment that is renewable annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Teaching, online and on campus, including a 2+2+2 load.
* Program coordination and service:
* Assist in organizing practica, on campus and online (i.e., build and maintain partnerships with school districts and community organizations, arrange logistics, track students, attend school and university based student celebrations). Assist in collection and maintenance of data for accreditation.
* Coordinate MS culminating projects (i.e. facilitate online information sessions, review capstone projects, support student revisions).
* Advise online and on-campus masters students. Provide candidates with appropriate referrals to campus support services.
* Other reasonable duties as assigned

* Reports to: Chair, Department of Literacy Teaching and Learning
Job Requirements:
* Teach literacy courses reflective of current research, New York State Standards, and practice.
* Explain program requirements in clear and concise terms.
* Meet the department's and student's needs and manage multiple tasks per required deadlines.
* Work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and University employees.
* Communicate and engage effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and/or experiences.
* Collaborate and partner with other university and community stakeholders to support candidate students' success.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
* PhD/EdD or ABD in literacy, teacher education, educational psychology, curriculum development, or related field with an emphasis on literacy education from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
* Teaching experience as instructor of record or teaching assistant in higher education or professional development
* Minimum 3 years PreK-12 teaching experience within a US context
* Teaching certification (NYS or eligible)
* Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
* Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
