JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Lead Instructor of Technical Services to join our team in Seattle, Washington.
This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep, hands-on expertise in commercial HVAC/R systems, electrical infrastructure, and building automation/controls. This leader will be responsible for supervising a multi-faceted FCTA training center as well as teaching technicians and supporting their career growth.
First Coast Technical Academy training facility is located at a Boeing facility. It includes travel up to 25% to support regional teams, training centers, and field operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the technical training center, ensuring high-quality instruction and facility readiness.
Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple trades including HVAC/R, electrical systems, and controls
Conduct training of technicians, and trains and supervise a small cadre of support instructors
Support the growth of technical training staff through mentorship, coaching, and performance development initiatives.
Help develop and execute technical training programs, ensuring alignment with evolving technologies, safety standards, and operational goals
Facilitate advanced support and oversight for BAS/EMS systems, including digital/analog I/O, system integration, and programming logic.
Assist with complex diagnostics, commissioning, and system optimization in the field as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC/R, electrical, and controls, including 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role.
Minimum 5 years of experience training technicians in technical skills related to their job requirements.
Deep knowledge of commercial HVACR systems, electrical distribution, and building automation platforms.
Proficiency in BAS/EMS systems, digital and analog I/O, and programming for HVAC and energy systems.
Must hold or have held a valid journeyman or trade license in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical (Washington State or transferable).
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence technical strategy.
Experience designing or overseeing technical training programs is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to support field teams and training initiatives.

Position Summary
The I-BEST Instructor will co-teach part-time in one of our I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) programs. In partnership with professional-technical faculty, I-BEST instructors use a co-teaching model to develop and deliver curriculum to not only build students basic and academic skills but to promote their success in their chosen program and beyond.
The I-BEST Instructor will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality instruction to students enrolled in our I-BEST programs, including Automotive Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Culinary and Pastry Arts, Landscape Horticulture, and Welding Fabrication Technology. This position requires a commitment to student-centered learning, cultural responsiveness, and collaboration with content area faculty.
Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and/or weekends according to program needs.

The Evergreen State College seeks a broadly trained mycologist with a transdisciplinary understanding of fungi to teach one or more offerings within our undergraduate Mycology Certificate program: Topics in Mycology (fall 2026) and/or Fungi for Human Health and the Environment ( Spring 2026). We invite candidates who situate the scientific study of mycology within broader ecological, social, cultural, or philosophical contexts. The successful candidate for Topics in Mycology will introduce students to a specialized area of mycology within their expertise (including but not limited to topics in pathology, genomics, or conservation). The successful candidate for Fungi for Human Health and the Environment will help students deepen their understanding fungi not only as biological entities but also as key contributors to social, ecological, and creative systems, drawing on insights from the social sciences, environmental sciences, arts, or humanities. The spring 2026 course, Topics in Mycology , is a 4-credit online offering. The class meets synchronously Wednesday evenings with an option for up to half of the instruction to be delivered asynchronously using a Canvas learning management system. The fall 2026 class , Fungi for Human Health and the Environment, is an 8-credit, team-taught, hybrid offering with some in-person labs and workshops (on the Olympia Campus) in addition to synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. The class meets Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. We invite candidates who situate the scientific study of mycology within broader ecological, social, cultural or philosophical contexts. The successful candidate will introduce students to a specialized area of mycology-such as phytopathology or industrial mycology-while deepening their understanding fungi not only as biological entities but as key contributors to social, ecological, and creative systems, drawing on insights from the social sciences, environmental sciences, arts, or humanities. We seek an engaging teacher/scholar with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and prior academic and/or professional experience in the field of mycology. Our new colleague must be able to develop curriculum and work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and content relevance for diverse learners. Substantial transdisciplinary study of mycology outside of biological science such as training in ethnomycology, environmental philosophy, political ecology, food or environmental justice, science journalism, or studies of fungi in history, literature, religion, or media. Evidence of potential to successfully work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Prior experience teaching/presenting in an online environment.
