Job Summary
Provide education, clinical supervision, and formal teaching to medical students, PA/Nursing students, residents, and fellows within Pediatrics and Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.
Provide clinical care and evaluate, assess and manage and neonatal and infant patients at University Hospital at Downstate with emphasis on specialty. care of newborn infants, particularly those born prematurely or with serious or complex medical conditions.
Work directly as attending of record in the UHD Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to diagnose, treat, and monitor the health or NICU patients, while providing support and education to families during a critical time. Respond to calls to Labor and Delivery and elsewhere as needed for high-risk deliveries or fetuses in distress. Respond to calls for consults in term newborn nursery.
Assist in the administration and activities of the ACGME accredited fellowship training program in neonatal-perinatal medicine.
Perform patient assessment and treatment, monitor vital signs, managing complex medical situations, family communication, collaboration with healthcare team (NICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists) to develop and carry out a comprehensive care plan for each infant; perform procedures
Attend high-risk deliveries requiring expertise in delivery room resuscitation and stabilization anticipated events.
Actively participate in daily patient rounds, medical records documentation of patient status, admission H and P, daily progress notes, procedure notes, medication reconciliation. and discharge summaries.
Perform NICU attending on clinical service with rotations in the NICU, on-site night and, week-end day or night calls in rotation with the other NICU attendings, possible, high risk follow-up/developmental clinics, and conducting neonatal critical care transports.
Serve as supervising physician in the residency training program teaching and supervising residents and participating in the interviews/recruitment, mentoring and evaluation of residents.
Participate in any of a range of scholarly activities such as clinical research with potential for reviewed publications and or extramural grant support necessary for eligibility for academic advancement.
Participate in the teaching and supervision of medical students, health related professions students and staff. Engagement in administrative and committee work as institutional service is also expected and necessary for academic advancement.
Participate in the Clinical Practice Management Plan of the Department Pediatrics as a billing provider or contracted service provider.
Required Qualifications
New York State Medical Licensure.
Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency.
Board Certified in Pediatrics.
Successfully completed or be completing an ACGME accredited fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (NPM) and be Board Certified or eligible for NPM.
Possesses or be eligible for DEA Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of academic experience, including teaching and/or research/scholarship, is strongly preferred.

Successful candidates may teach one or more of the following courses: Materials and Construction (Sewing Levels 1 & 2) * Instruction in the foundational skills of garment construction, from skirts to fully lined sewn blazers. These courses focus on sewing, not tailoring. The instructor will teach proper use of basic construction machinery and techniques for garment assembly, seams, finishes, and professional standards. Students will learn how to produce well-constructed garments using industry best practices.
Design Studio (Draping Levels 1, 2, & 3)
* Instruction in hands-on draping techniques, beginning with fundamental skills such as proper tool use, fabric grain, and garment balance. Students will progress from unstructured draping using soft fabrics to structured techniques for more complex garments. The instructor will address finishing details and guide students in exploring the relationship between two-dimensional patternmaking and three-dimensional draping. Construction techniques and finishing practices will be integrated throughout all levels.
Apparel Design Studio - Patternmaking (Level 3)
* Instruction in patternmaking techniques including development of basic slopers, pattern identification, proper tool usage, and hands-on design room methods. Students will learn basic through advanced techniques as they create design prototypes. Knowledge of construction processes and machinery is essential for linking design and production elements.

Compensation
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.
$89.98 per hour, based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp. 88-89).

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses as assigned and must demonstrate a willingness to teach in-person classes, as well as be certified to teach online courses.

Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
* Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in catalog and the approved course syllabus, in accordance with schedule of classes and incorporating interactive approaches, technologies and methods when possible.
* Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
* Incorporates the use of the library into courses, uses writing as an instructional method, and utilizes computing and other academic technologies in courses when possible.
* Meets all scheduled class meetings.
* Advises Division Dean of absences in a timely manner.
* Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students enrolled in classes and submits required reports to Dean or Student Records Office.
* Submits grades per published deadline.
* Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and demonstrates the use of the results of these assessments in course planning.
* Plans in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to successful teaching of assigned classes.
* Submits progress reports on students for counseling, athletic oversight, and record keeping purposes and discusses with counselors and other appropriate personnel any problems of students which may require special attention.

Education Requirements
* Master's Degree in discipline required
* Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Experience
* Teaching experience at the community college level preferred.
