JOB SUMMARY
Teaching Associates will teach CAL 2970 and CAL 3970. They will also support the Liberal Studies program at the CSUSB-PDC campus to organize educational activities with other departments, organizations and entities in the community.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Position involves all aspects of being the instructor of record for CAL 2970 and CAL 3970: preparing a syllabus and assignments, creating lessons and class activities, attending classes weekly for the duration of the semester, grading assignments, holding weekly office hours, and responding to student communication in a timely manner. Teaching Associates will also attend a pre-teaching orientation held before classes begin, typically in August each year.

The Department of Mathematics is one of nine departments within the College of Natural Sciences at CSUSB. The Mathematics Department offers four bachelor's degrees and a master's degree, as well as a minor in Mathematics, a minor in statistics, a Certificate in Introductory Actuarial Mathematics, and a Subject Matter Authorization. The department is also involved with the interdisciplinary MS in Applied Data Science and partnering with the School of Computer Science and Engineering in developing a BS in Data Science.

The Radiologic Technology Instructor is primarily responsible for providing quality didactic instruction to students. The instructor ensures the effective delivery of classroom education, supervision, evaluation, and assessment of students assigned to various courses. Additionally, the Instructor supplements clinical education by assisting the clinical coordinator with site visits, evaluating students assigned to clinical affiliates, and recruiting clinical sites. Serving as an additional liaison with clinical affiliates, the instructor supports the integration of clinical training. The instructor contributes significantly to the education of learners in the field of radiologic technology. This position reports to the Director of the Radiologic Technology Program.

Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester so some faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice.

Duties:
Duties of part-time faculty lecturers include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
Part-time faculty lecturers are also needed to provide supervision of graduate students in clinical practicum.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics comprises approximately 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty members across four disciplinary groups (pure, applied mathematics, applied statistics, mathematics education) who take pride in teaching at a university that ranks near the top for number of bachelor's degrees awarded to minorities. APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
