Dissertation Advisors (Chairs) are to be experienced in the end to end dissertation development process. Responsibilities
Provide dissertation student instruction in assigned dissertation capstone courses.
Guide dissertation students through each dissertation milestone deliverable ensuring compliance to template and rubric criteria.
Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to assist them in scholarly completion of dissertation milestone documents.
Participate in virtual review sessions with students during summer intensive sessions.
Review and provide formative and summative feedback to students weekly on dissertation milestone deliverables.
Prepare and support students for proposal and manuscript oral defenses
Counsel and advise dissertation students through committee member (subject matter expert and second committee member) feedback to meet University dissertation requirements.
Participate in faculty directed activities integral to the university system.
Meet with Director of School of Education on student milestone completion progress and report issues, concerns, and successes ensuring student dissertation work complies with University standards.
Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Program's mission, goals, and objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
EdD or PhD from a US accredited college or university
Current CITI certification (or complete through Touro University Nevada's IRB within the first 30 days of hiring)
Experience
:
Three years of dissertation chair experience (online preferred)
Five years of dissertation committee experience (online preferred)
Teaching experience at the University level - preferred online course instruction
Multi-disciplinary experience in student dissertation development
Knowledgeable in all aspects of five-chapter dissertation development
Strong methodological background (qualitative and quantitative design and approach)
Ability to work collaboratively as a team with other Program and University faculty and colleagues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to address diverse audiences
Highly organized, self-starter
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Nevada State University invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in-person courses in Anatomy and Physiology, such as BIOL 223 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and BIOL 224 Human Anatomy and Physiology II. The bulk of the students enrolling into these courses are primarily pre-licensure nursing students. Nevada State University is the only undergraduate program in the state to have human cadavers for dissection. Applicants need to have experience with dissection and be comfortable leading dissection lab sessions for our students.

The program encourages hands-on learning of historical methods and emphasizes a capstone experience in areas such as oral history and a senior seminar where students conduct their own primary source research. In addition, the history program serves the general Nevada State student population through its lower-level general education-oriented courses. The program was recently approved to start a chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society.
Students in the program come from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and include both traditional college-age students and students returning to school. This position will join the multidisciplinary History, Law, and Society department to help shape the Core Humanities and History programs at this young and dynamic institution. Primary Responsibilities:
* Teach a total of 24 credits per 9-month academic year that includes two sections per semester of HIST 101: U.S. History to 1877, HIST 102: U.S. History Since 1877, and/or CH 203: American Experience and Constitutional Change, a course that focuses on U.S history, cultures, and civil rights struggles, in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, hybrid, online).
* Teach courses that meet departmental needs in global history such as European, Asian or African history.
* Teach courses in academic specialization in one or more of these areas: Asian, European, and/or African history and/or the history of underrepresented groups in the United States.
* Serve on departmental and university-wide committees.
* Engage in ongoing professional development activities.
Required Qualifications:
* M.A. preferably in history; Ph.D.s encouraged to apply.
