POSITION
Sotheby's Institute of Art is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach a course in the MA or Online Premier program for the upcoming term. Adjunct Faculty instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction in classroom or off-site locations. Courses may be conducted in various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluations, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Candidates must have a strong, demonstrated knowledge of art history, the art market and/or other facets of business and art related to our curricula. Terminal degree or equivalent experience required.
Preferred
Experience teaching online or in person for higher education. Candidate should have excellent written, verbal, and digital communication, computer, and organizational skills. Experience working with online students of all demographics is desirable. An understanding of learning management systems helpful.

Job Summary:
All departments within the Tobin College of Business at St. John's University seek applicants for adjunct faculty positions to begin the Spring 2025 semester and beyond. We are seeking adjunct faculty for daytime and/or nighttime courses at both our Queens campus (8000 Utopia Parkway) and Manhattan campus (101 Astor Place). The needs for each department are noted below.
Accountancy & Taxation: General need for coverage.
Business Analytics and Information Systems: Seeking candidates with expertise in Data Visualization, Sports Analytics, Predictive Analytics, Computer Language (Python), and Prescriptive Analytics. Proficiency in either R or Python is required for all the Business Analytics areas. Seeking candidates in the following Information Systems areas: Business Data Communication and Network, Computer and Network Security, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Advanced MS Office (Excel and Access).

American Sign Language - to teach American Sign Language (ASL) courses in-person at the Union campus. A master's degree in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies or a closely related field is required. Native or near-native fluency in ASL. Cross-cultural understanding and excellent communication skills required.
All adjunct positions are non-tenure track. They require a master's degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
Adjunct faculty teaching one three (3) or four (4) credit class shall provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. An additional thirty (30) minutes of availability shall be provided for each additional class taught during the semester/session. Availability may be in person or virtual and shall be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, taking into account student needs. Adjunct faculty teaching fewer than three (3) credits shall provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. Regardless of the number of credits an Adjunct faculty member is teaching, they may, at their discretion, provide additional office hours beyond the amounts required.
Kean University Adjuncts are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Effective September 2024, the rate of pay is: $1,975 per credit.
Effective September 2025, the rate of pay is: $2,100 per credit.
Effective September 2026, the rate of pay is: $2,225 per credit.
Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

* Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures and national perspectives into courses.

* Advises Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.

* Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and demonstrates the use of the results of these assessments in course planning.

Education Requirements

The Fashion Design Department at FIT invites applications for experienced Fashion Designers or Technical Designers to teach fashion design techniques with a focus on industry-standard digital tools, including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and related applications.
The successful candidate will have advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, particularly in creating industry-standard flats, and will be able to instruct students in developing technical packages (tech packs). Knowledge of garment specifications is essential for certain courses.
Candidates should have strong presentation, layout, and design development skills, as well as proficiency in digital tools and software commonly used in professional fashion design workflows. The ability to effectively assess student performance and submit grades in accordance with the academic calendar is required.
Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.

Compensation
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment.
$87.14 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules (pp 88-89).

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers bachelor's and master's degrees in childhood and adolescent education and a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction. The department also offers middle school extension advanced certificates. Courses are offered on the Queens campus and online during the day and evening.
Department of Education Specialties
The Department of Education Specialties offers in-person, hybrid and online master's degrees and advanced certificates in Literacy PK-12, Special Education, PK-12, and TESOL, PK-12. An online Ph.D. in Literacy is offered. Dual certification MS programs are also offered in TESOL/Special Education, Literacy/TESOL, and Special Education/Literacy.

Availability may be in person or virtual and shall be scheduled by the adjunct faculty member, taking into account student needs. Adjunct faculty teaching fewer than three (3) credits shall provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability outside of the classroom per week for the duration of each semester/session taught by the adjunct faculty member. Regardless of the number of credits an Adjunct faculty member is teaching, they may, at their discretion, provide additional office hours beyond the amounts required.
Kean University Adjuncts are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Effective September 2024, the rate of pay is: $1,975 per credit.
Effective September 2025, the rate of pay is: $2,100 per credit.
Effective September 2026, the rate of pay is: $2,225 per credit.
Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.

Columbia University's Strategic Communication master's program seeks a part-time lecturer to
teach a graduate-level course in Gender and Communication in the Workplace. This course
offers students the knowledge and skills needed to identify the social and linguistic practices
enacted at work, and the opportunity to advance the interests of those who run up against
barriers to advancement because of prejudice and stereotyping. Through lectures and readings
students deepen their knowledge of foundational theories and empirical research in gender
and communication that demonstrate the central role gender plays in understanding what is
going on in face-to-face interaction. Through simulations, scenarios, and critical incidents,
students practice, extend and apply their newly acquired socio-pragmatic knowledge and skills
to enhance their sensitivity to context, improve their performance in workplace
communication, counter negative stereotypes, and undermine prejudice in the workplace.
