Bachelor of Management Faculty (Tenure-Track)
Adjunct instructor job in Mount Vernon, WA
The Opportunity: Skagit Valley College (SVC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Management (BASM) program. The BASM program builds managers who lead with people, adapt with agility, think in systems, harness technology, including generative AI, and drive innovation across today's workplaces.
Rooted in a spiral learning model and a culture of continual evolution and recognized by the Community College Baccalaureate Association (CCBA) as a promising practice in equity and quality, the BASM program has dismantled traditional pedagogical constructs and rebuilt them to make management education accessible, achievable, and relevant to working professionals and place-bound students. The program design intentionally pairs the flexibility of online learning with the connection and sense of community often found in in-person programs through a program-wide commitment to wrap-around, systems view student support.
This is the second tenure-track faculty line created for the BASM program, a direct response to strong employer demand for graduates and growing student interest in the region. The program continues to expand not only through formal recruitment but also through word-of-mouth and peer-to-peer referrals, reflecting the value graduates and employers place on its impact.
We are seeking a faculty member with a proven record of workplace leadership who can translate that experience into the formal learning environment. The ideal candidate combines substantial workplace leadership expertise with a passion for teaching and a commitment to continual evolution, both personally as a scholar-practitioner and in how they design and deliver instruction. They are eager to engage students in practice-driven, decision-focused learning that connects business and management theory and workplace reality.
Successful candidates will bring instructional strength, use innovative and collaborative teaching approaches, and demonstrate a commitment to integrating technology such as Generative AI into business and management education. Candidates should have experience teaching in both in-person and online learning environments or demonstrate the adaptability and skill set to be effective across them.
Faculty in the BASM program typically teach 15 credits per quarter (three courses), contribute to program and college service, and actively cultivate relationships with regional employers, industry leaders, and community partners. This position is expected to begin in Fall Quarter 2026 at the Mount Vernon Campus, with occasional teaching responsibilities at the Whidbey Island Campus.
