Department: PACU (Recovery Room 1) FTE: 0.90 Full Time Shift: Days Position Summary: Function as unit educator, master teacher, master preceptor and facilitates evidenced-based research into specialized areas of nursing. Utilize the expertise of a practitioner to incorporate nursing processes into the plan of care for a specialized group of patients. Perform as a unit educator while maintaining clinical skills by performing as a clinical instructor for students from the CON on home unit and/or assisting in staffing on unit. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Instructors should be well-acquainted with the program's objectives and demonstrate the ability to follow a structured instructional plan. Additionally, they must have the necessary credentials for the subjects they teach, whether in a laboratory setting or as part of an educational program. Instructors are expected to regularly assess students' progress in meeting the overall program requirements. They perform their duties under the supervision of the lead instructor or TC staff, particularly within the laboratory environment. Their responsibilities include setting up training equipment, cleaning and maintaining that equipment, and organizing and storing it after use. AHA ALS course instructor in ACLS and/or PALS. Must be or willing to be NAEMT Instructor in PHTLS and AMLS. Must be able to obtain DC DOH Instructor certification upon hire. Provide high-fidelity simulations to students. Manage accreditation and recordkeeping by AHA or other accrediting bodies' requirements. Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs. Provide course records for accuracy, and issue ALS certification cards. Monitors course feedback through review of course paperwork and (in coordination with the Training Center Manager) institutes changes where needed. Communicate with contracted instructors as well as the Training Center Staff regarding course quality assurance, skills deficiencies, or other course delivery problems. Ensures training equipment readiness through weekly checks and decontamination procedures, including manikin preparation. To plan, organize, and instruct courses. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures to maintain high-quality instruction. Assists post-course processing and general administrative duties as permissive of their teaching schedule. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education A minimum of 2 years of college coursework in one Education, Healthcare, Nursing, EMS Management, or a related field, or a combination of education and training that will allow the individual to be successful. Licenses/Certifications ( Preferred) Current and valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) Provider credentials Current and valid National Association of EMS Educators Level 2 certification. Experience A minimum of two (2) years of field or clinical experience as a healthcare provider or pre-hospital provider Physical Requirements Sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk for long periods of time in a clinical setting.
