JOB SUMMARY
Both COMM 1006 Oral Communication and COMM 1007 Critical Thinking Through Argumentation are 3-unit courses. Each is taught twice a week on campus (either at our San Bernardino campus or our Palm Desert Campus) for one and a half hours per class session, during the Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each). Instructors prepare their syllabi, assignments, classroom activities, lecture materials, and grading rubrics, and teach the course following department guidelines. Instructors or these courses also hold limited office hours in which they can meet with students who need help, have questions, and require advice about their coursework.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students.
Typical duties include: preparing al materials for teaching assigned courses, in-class teaching, and evaluating student coursework and grading assignments.

SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT
In addition to the professional responsibilities identified under 18.2.3 of the faculty agreement, this assignment includes (but is not limited to) the following:

* Maintain current knowledge in the discipline and engage in innovative methods of effective in-person and online education;
* Maintain professional and ethical standards;
* Consistently use effective educational techniques to promote learning and achievement;
* Participate in department, school and community meetings, engage in college meetings and committee work, curriculum and program design and development, development and assessment of student learning outcomes, community outreach, development of complementary instructional activities for use in the Success Centers, department website development, student advisement, program review, and other duties necessary for the benefit of the students, the college, the community, and the profession;
* Positively engage students, promote development of critical thinking skills, collaboration, and empathy;
* Participate in activities such as professional development, seminars, mentoring, club advising, committees, academic senate, as well as engagement in department, school, and academic and career communities; and
* Day, evening, and/or weekend assignments at any of the College campuses may be a part of the regular contract.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR
* Associate's degree and six (6) years of related experience; OR
* Possession of a valid lifetime California Community College credential authorizing service as an instructor in Dental Assisting; OR
* The equivalent (equivalency questions are included in the Faculty Application for Employment).
* Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the minimum qualifications indicated above, program-specific qualifications below are required:
* Any bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional experience with Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) and Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) Certificates; OR
* A dentist licensed to practice in the State of California with occupational experience in the application of fourhanded dentistry principals either as a dental assistant or working with a chairside assistant; OR
* A dental hygienist with a bachelor's degree acquiring the "Certified Dental Assistant" credential by the Dental Assisting National Board and obtaining occupational experience in the application of clinical chairside dental assisting involving fourhanded dentistry; AND
* Shall have been licensed or permitted for a minimum of two years and possess experience in dental assisting subject matter;
* Experience teaching courses in a Dental Assisting program within the past five years;
* Possession of Coronal Polish, Pits and Fissure Sealants Certification;
* Maintain compliance with all Dental Board of California and the Commission on Dental Accreditation standards, including but not limited to training in teaching methodology.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Based upon the minimum and/or desirable qualifications stated in this position announcement, the initial salary placement range is $81,908 (minimum qualifications) to $119,043 (doctorate) (Fall 2025 salary schedule). Placement is based on the regular full-time faculty salary schedule and is dependent upon verification of relevant experience and coursework from a regional or nationally accredited institution of higher learning.
Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.

JOB SUMMARY
The Mathematics Department at California State University, San Bernardino is seeking part-time lecturer applications from a diverse group of qualified individuals. The department is seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach Quantitative Reasoning, Mathematics for Educators or selected 2000-level courses at the San Bernardino Campus. Quantitative Reasoning instructors may also teach lab sections designed to support student success in college level mathematics. Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities. The Department of Communications and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on-going basis for our pool of part-time lecturers to teach our lower division and upper division courses, as well as GEO 102: General Education - Oral Communication.
GEO 102 Course Description:
Introduction to the form and content of communication. Includes: the linguistic, psychological, and cultural bases of communication; various types of communication ranging from basic speech acts to forms of persuasion; the social and political significance of communication; and how communication operates within and across a wide range of social contexts. Students become actively acquainted with some of the potential proficiencies that may be brought into various social contexts. Requires active participation in classroom exercises and practicing public speaking.

Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.
Minimum qualifications:
ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field;
Experience and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard;

Preferred qualifications:
A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field;
Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,500 per full-time month
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
