The Opportunity
The School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training (SMST) at College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) of the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites outstanding applicants for a 9-month full-time tenured associate professor position starting in Fall 2025. The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate level courses, advise graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.) and postdoctoral scholars, contribute to university and professional service, and establish a top-quality, active interdisciplinary research program in one or more of the following areas: Modeling & Simulation, Human Systems, Human-Centered Modeling Simulation or Computation, Applied Human Factors in Complex Sociotechnical or Cyber-Physical Systems, AI-Human Teaming or Collaboration, Multimodal Human-Machine Data Analytics, Behavioral Cyber Security, or other closely related areas. Application areas include but not limited to defense, healthcare, security, space industry, semiconductor fabrication, Industry 4.0, logistics & supply chains, smart cities, K-16, and climate change. The faculty at SMST conduct both foundational and applied research.
Founded in 2001, the graduate programs at SMST are recognized as the first modeling and simulation programs in the nation. SMST is one of seven units within CECS, which is one of the two largest colleges on campus with over 15 thousand students, and over $40 million in research funding. SMST also maintains a strong partnership with the UCF's Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) and its Knight's Digital Twin Initiative.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in an area appropriate for this position.
A strong record of research, teaching, and service commensurate with the rank of a tenured associate professor.
A sustained record of research and extramural funding commensurate with tenured rank.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in mentoring doctoral students, post docs, and early career faculty.
Experience in interdisciplinary national and international research collaborations.
Experience in online course development and instruction.
Some administrative experience.
