Knowledge and Skills: Extensive field experience with and knowledge of emergency responses, site assessments, and writing or reviewing safety and health plans. Knowledge of regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Experience conducting technical training. Knowledge of the following topics: chemical and physical properties of hazardous materials, hazardous material identification, hazard communication, fire safety and extinguisher training, site characterization, site control, incident command systems, PPE, respiratory protection, decontamination, medical surveillance, spill response and control, site hazards and worker safety, radiation, and confined space entry awareness. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Communicating technical information in a group setting Proficient in Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) Education Minimum Education Required: BS/BA in a science-related field Additional Qualifications Minimum Experience Required: Professional in a science-related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Licenses, Certifications, etc. required: Completed a HAZWOPER training program for teaching the subjects they are expected to teach, or they shall have the academic credentials and instructional experience necessary for teaching the subjects. Key Responsibilities * Teach core and elective sociology and criminology courses. * Undertake continued research in your specialization, including publishing in scholarly journals and submitting grant proposals. * Service to the department, college, university, and community. Minimum Qualifications * Ph.D. in sociology, criminology, criminal justice or related social science field (ABDs are eligible to apply but must have degree in hand by June 30th, 2026). * Demonstrated ability or potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Evidence for potential excellence in teaching in a variety of formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes. * Ability to teach core and elective courses in sociology and criminology Preferred Qualifications * Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. * Research focus at the intersection of criminology and mental health/medical sociology. * Ability to teach courses in penology, community corrections, and related topics. * Ability to teach courses in mental health and criminology or medical sociology and criminology.
