The Department of Biomedical and Applied Sciences in the Indiana University School of Dentistry ( IUSD ) invites persons with a strong teaching background in immunology to apply for a full-time tenure/tenure-track position at either the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. The preferred candidate will have a strong scholarly publication record substantiating the candidate's expertise in immunology, and/or scholarship of teaching immunology in higher education. Job Requirements:
1. You need to be the type of person who enjoys being around dogs. You will be around them all day, every day. You will get slobbered on, and hair is everywhere. You will come home covered in dog hair and unspeakable things. You will have to clean up pee, poop, and yes sometimes vomit.
2. This is a physical job. You will need to be able to lift at least 25-50 pounds and be able to be on your feet for long periods of time 8-10-12 hour days.
3. Having a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are a must have here. There are times when you will be working with a team member or two and other times that you will need to work independently, so the ability to learn quickly, be dependable and have a great attitude while doing it are essential for success.
In short, your job is to serve the dogs and have fun doing it. (I mean who wants a job that isn't fun?). The workplace we offer is laid back, safe, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality always! What we don't expect is perfection or pre-existing skills for you to qualify for this job. This position is a strategic joint hire with the newly established Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute (CBATI) at IU Indianapolis. Faculty affiliated with CBATI will be either CBATI Investigators or CBATI Fellows to receive additional research support, including new state-of-the-art research facilities and opportunities to lead interdisciplinary teams. Candidates must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, externally funded research agenda as Principal Investigator (PI). Candidates who are leading externally funded research groups (including post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and research staff) are highly encouraged to apply. The Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute (CBATI) drives interdisciplinary bioscience and technology research and collaboration with industry partners in pursuit of discoveries ranging from wearable and implantable medical devices and sensors to the advanced detection of biomarkers and AI-enabled drug discovery and delivery. With a goal of quickly delivering IU health and sciences innovations from the bench to bedside, the institute will aim to stimulate substantial growth in the disclosure and licensing of inventions, discoveries and innovations, as well as industry partnerships and IU-launched startup companies. With a $138M grant from Lilly Endowment, IU recently launched a major initiative to accelerate bioscience innovation. Communicates with the Dean/Director of Nursing as necessary to resolve issues or concerns.
Leads discussions and elicits information from students which demonstrate that students are learning and accomplishing the course or workshop objectives.
Utilizes course materials effectively, demonstrates thorough knowledge of content, and incorporates real life nursing practice examples.
Utilizes multiple teaching methods and techniques including audio/visual aids/computer technologies and group activities.
Provides appropriate handouts and supplemental materials.
Provides clinical instruction to students in approved health care settings, adhering to the policies of the clinical setting and the College.
Serves as local contact for assigned and faculty developed clinical sites under the direction of the Dean/Director of Nursing.
Implements effectively the Evolve Success Program (ESP), which includes the Evolve HESI Specialty Exams and the Elsevier Case Studies and Practice Tests, to help student prepare for the NCLEX.
Implements effectively Kaplan Review material where utilized.
Provides feedback and develops an individualized remediation plan for any student that is not performing successfully in the Evolve Success Program (ESP).
Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth at the employee's expense.
