Chosen candidate(s) will need to complete Southeast Community College's Advanced Canvas training in the term before teaching. The instructor will be responsible for creating course-content-related materials, utilizing various teaching strategies - including Engaged Learning practices, monitoring and evaluating student progress, and maintaining accurate student records using the required LMS grade book. This is a part-time, temporary position. Essential Functions Provide Instruction in Assigned Subject Areas * Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each course assigned. Instructor will utilize a variety of instructional strategies in the classroom, online, or hybrid setting that are appropriate to individual student needs and may include, but are not limited to, lectures, small groups, demonstrations, and computer-assisted instruction. Provide For Student Evaluation and Recordkeeping * Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress. * Assist in gathering and interpreting data for department assessment. HIST2010 is a survey of American history from the Age of Discovery through Civil War and Reconstruction. Emphasis is on the political, economic, cultural, social, and technological issues that arise in the development of the American nation. HIST2020 is a survey of American History from the end of the Civil War era to the present. Emphasis is on the political, economic, cultural, social, and technological issues that arise in America's development as a global power. Both courses are adopted from the Nebraska Transfer Initiative and the syllabi can be found online here: HIST2010 American History I NTI Syllabus HIST2020 American History II NTI Syllabus Adjunct faculty positions are part-time contract appointments for $750/credit hour, are not eligible for benefits, and are hired on an as-need basis per student enrollment. Adjunct applicant pools are reviewed by the VP of Academic Affairs and contracted as needed.
