Responsibilities:
Develops and provides students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students.

Our program is a four-year course of study that includes academic courses, clinical rotations, and a doctoral research project. SJSU's program is located in the Silicon Valley at one of the 200 top research universities in the nation. Instructors in our Doctor of Audiology program will be able to shape the direction of this new program for years to come. Brief Description of Duties
We invite applications for a pool of part-time lecturers, should an opening arise, to teach doctoral courses in the Au.D. Program at San José State University. The number of positions varies from to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. The pool will remain in place for two calendar years; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply. We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach students in a cohort-based program. Positions start at the beginning of a semester and appointments may be renewed based on department need, funding, and performance.

Required Qualifications
* Must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in a discipline related to Audiology or Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree.
* Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
* Must have the ability to work with and evaluate adult learners. Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
* Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the doctoral level.

CPSY 628- Child and Parent Therapy and Counseling (3) Counseling children and parents through client assessments, case conceptualization, goal setting, data collection, and behavioral and interactional strategies. Emphasis on systems methods and evidence-based treatment strategies. Consultation with parents, teachers, and other professionals in a variety of settings.
CPSY 646- Community Mental Health: Concepts of Recovery, Wellness, Systems of Care, and Advocacy (3) This course helps students understand the model of community mental health recovery and the skills needed for mental health practice. Students will participate in hands-on experiences through a community mental health immersion experience, in addition to learning about strength and evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at mental health consumers of community mental health care.
CPSY 661- Adult Life Transitions Therapy (3) Application of adult development and life transitions theories to the practice of counseling adults and their families. Strategies and techniques for assessing and assisting adults and their families in initiating, understanding, coping with, and resolving major life transitions, as well as the psychological and health implications of life events, such as loss, economic change, trauma, illness, substance abuse and relationship changes.
CPSY 626- Addictions Counseling (2) This course presents theoretical and practical explorations of the causes of and treatments for addictions and substance abuse. Students enrolled in this course will learn how to assess and intervene with client systems affected by substance use, abuse, and various behavioral addictions, drawing from a range of theories for understanding and models of intervention. Students will gain knowledge regarding multicultural approaches to identification, evaluation, treatment, and prevention of substance abuse and addiction, including populations at risk and the role of support systems.
CPSY 635- Human Sexuality (1) This course will provide the basic understanding of human sexuality, including the study of physiological, psychological, and sociocultural variables associated with sexual behavior, sexual orientation, gender identity, and the assessment and treatment of psychosexual dysfunction. The course will review these concepts through a family systems and developmental lens over the life cycle.
CPSY 683- Clinical Psychopharmacology (3) This course explores basic principles and applications of psychopharmacology in the mental health field. Students will survey principles of drug action and neurotransmitter systems in the nervous system and various classes of psychiatric drugs. The historical, social, economic, political and cultural influences on the use of psychiatric medication are also explored.
CPSY 637- Traineeship I (3) A Level 1 supervised experience in marriage and family therapy in an institutional setting under professional supervision. Course focus will be on case conceptualization of fieldwork experiences and development of clinical skills, specifically assessment, treatment planning and intervention strategies. Case management and client centered advocacy strategies, such as accessing community resources will be addressed.
CPSY 638- Traineeship II (3) A Level II supervised experience in marriage and family therapy in an institutional setting under professional supervision. This course is a continuation of Traineeship I, expanding upon each student's knowledge, goals and clinical growth.
CPSY 644- Child, Elder, and Adult Abuse Issues (2) This course covers a broad range of domestic violence issues, including assessment, detection, reporting, and intervention strategies in intimate partner abuse, child abuse, and elder abuse for marriage and family therapists. Includes knowledge of community and governmental resources, cultural factors, mandated reporting, and same gender abuse dynamics. Course analyses patterns of emotional, physical, sexual, and economic or fiduciary abuse along with prevention strategies for changing systemic cycles.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate expertise and knowledge in the specific content area of the course. Master's Degree in MFT, Ph.D./Psy.D, in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required. Role Summary
The Full Inclusion Instructor is responsible for working with teachers and students to help facilitate Special Education learning in the classroom. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with staff and students, uphold Navigator school culture at all times, and create opportunities for all students to learn, regardless of differences.
Responsibilities
The individual activities and duties of this position may vary depending on grade level, teacher methods, subject area, project goals, and physical demands of students as well as the achievement levels, abilities, and behavioral needs of students. The Full Inclusion Instructor may be assigned to support one or more students at any given time. The Full Inclusion Instructor will be supported and developed through coaching and training provided by Navigator Schools. They will participate in weekly coaching meetings and collaborate with peers and supervisors in order to ensure student success.
Student Instruction and Intervention
Provide direct support to Special Education students under the direction of the Director of Student Services, Coordinator of Student Services, Principal, Teacher, Education Specialist, and/or Full Inclusion Coach
Implement behavioral and instructional methodologies to address the needs of students demonstrating learning or behavioral challenges
Work with students with different abilities (mild to extensive needs) within the general education classroom
Support the academic and behavioral needs of students
Accommodate specific student needs through the implementation of
specialized learning activities and linguistically appropriate goals and
objectives
Provide instructional support and interventions during and after school in a
variety of settings, including the general education classrooms and other
school settings as assigned
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership
Student Supervision & Support
Supervise students in a variety of settings, including recess, field trips, classroom, and lunchtime
Assist in the preparation, modification, and implementation of specialized instructional materials related to individual student needs
Collect behavioral and academic data pertaining to student goals
Assist students with special needs as prescribed (proper training will be provided and may include assisting students with personal hygiene, restroom assistance, administering medications, and providing behavioral modification techniques)
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or leadership
Requirements:
Qualifications
One of the following: AA/AS degree, High School Diploma or GED and ‘Pass' on the Navigator Schools Instructional Employee Assessment
