    The instructor is responsible for teaching courses and implementing the instructional program in accordance with course syllabi, College policies and Alabama Community College System guidelines. This individual will advise and recruit students, assist in updating curricula, maintain teaching equipment, serve on College committees and support the total mission of the College. Instructor will coordinate instructional activities with the Program Coordinator or Division Director when applicable and perform other duties as assigned. Position requires extensive knowledge of the instructional discipline. Salary Schedule: L Theory - $32.00 and Lab - $25.00 Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Perform assignments and maintain duty hours in accordance with the current facultyschedule. Classes may be taught at either campus or at an off-campus site. Classes may be scheduled day, evening or weekends to meet student needs. * Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course syllabi, facilitate student learning, and assist in implementing the total instructional program. * Promote safety throughout the total instructional program. * Maintain instructional related records including student attendance, student grades, enrollment records, competency records, student's plan of study, etc. * Provide timely and accurate "Student No-Show" reports. These reports require instructor signatures and instructors are potentially financially liable for inaccurate reporting. * Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment, supplies, and environments which promote learning to perform in the current and emerging work world environments. * Complete required surveys and student data requests. * Communicate with program advisory committee members, employers, and former students to receive guidance for upgrading curriculum and instruction. * Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in career decision-making program planning, registration, and job seeking. * Follow up on graduates and former students. * Coordinate with the college placement office to identify potential employment opportunities for students and to identify students interested in job placement. * Assist in developing and upgrading course syllabi and other curriculum materials. * Manage live work activities, records, and materials where included in the curriculum. * Serve on college committees as needed to support the total mission of the college. * Promote the specific instructional program and the total institution within the occupational area and throughout the community. * Recruit students for classes. * Assist in recruiting, orienting, and supporting adjunct instructors to teach courses in area of responsibility. * Contribute to the welfare and advancement of the total community. * Keep up to date with teaching methodology, occupational information, and technology through professional development activities. * Incorporate technology into the teaching/learning experience. * Comply with applicable laws and regulations communicated through memos, staff meetings, and professional development workshops. * Adhere to annual faculty evaluations. * Develop and implement lesson plans and appropriate test and measurement devices. * Attend faculty meetings, in-service programs, and other college programs and functions, such as commencement and award ceremonies. * Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College. * Maintain compliance with college and program related accreditation and certification standards. * Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts * Perform other duties as directed by the Division Director and Program Coordinator or Associate Dean of Career/Technical Education. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Associate Degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution with three (3) or more years recent full-time work experience in the occupational or technical field. * Must possess an EPA certification and licensure from the Alabama Board of Heating and Air. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree with 27 semester hours in the teaching field and six (6) years of documented full-time work experience in the teaching field; OR Bachelor's Degree with specialized coursework equivalent to the community or technical college program and six (6) years of documented full-time work experience in the teaching field. * Successful completion of an approved occupational examination within the first year of employment Application Procedures/Additional Information Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on this vacancy notice and must submit a completed online application packet to be considered for this position.     ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Atmospheric & Earth Science (AES) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a tenured or tenure-earning faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor. We seek an established scientist and scholar specializing in high-impact weather. Ideal candidates would pursue knowledge and increase understanding through basic research of high impact weather events. This can involve storm-to-mesoscale observational analysis, ground-based remote sensing, numerical weather prediction and/or data science methods (machine learning/artificial intelligence), with applications in extreme weather, economic impacts, societal benefits, and national security. The successful candidate would build active collaborations within AES and also externally within the Earth System Science Center (ESSC), NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), NOAA National Weather Service-Huntsville, Redstone Arsenal, and elsewhere. APPOINTMENT DATE: Fall 2026 ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The AES Department is co-located with the UAH ESSC, NASA MSFC Earth Science Division, and the National Weather Service, enabling undergraduate and graduate students to receive a unique collaborative research and education experience. Within Cramer Research Hall, multiple NASA Earth Science programs drive research that engage students and employ dozens of university scientists. In addition, mobile radar and atmospheric profiling systems within the Severe Weather Institute Radar & Lightning Laboratory (SWIRLL) are available as research assets. In addition to atmospheric science research, a cross-cutting theme of the AES Department is the development and application of geospatial analytical methods and remote sensing technology to Atmospheric and Earth Science disciplines. These include land use/land cover change, severe weather, climate, human adaptation, lightning instrumentation, numerical modeling and data assimilation, satellite remote sensing, air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, urban studies, natural disasters, and environmental policy and decision-making. The AES Department currently has an undergraduate (B.S.) program in Atmospheric & Earth Science (AES), with concentrations in Atmospheric Science (ATS) and Earth System Science (ESS), an M.S. AES program (in ATS and ESS), and an ATS Ph.D. program. The AES Department has 15 full-time faculty, over 20 affiliate faculty, and an average of 40-45 graduate and 90-95 undergraduate students.
