Berkshire Community College is searching for adjunct faculty to teach Respiratory Therapy Clinical setting for the Division of Nursing, Health and Wellness.
Description
Under the immediate supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Program Curriculum Coordinator, the incumbent faculty is responsible for classroom instruction, laboratory integration, and coordination of student activities within a particular course of study in the respiratory care program curriculum. As clinical faculty, under direct supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, participates in bedside clinical instruction and other aspects of program instructional strategies, visitation of designated clinical sites, bedside clinical instruction, and coordination of clinical student training.
Clinical:
* Comply with clinical visitation schedule as directed by the Director of Clinical Education. Coordinate visits in order to maximize student instruction and favorable learning environment.
* Communicate student progress and clinical site activities in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of time, travel, and instructional activities in clinical sites.
* Coordinate clinical site resources in order to maximize learning outcomes. Instruct, supervise, and direct students in the provision of clinical respiratory care practice.
* Assess student progress and make suggestions for improvement. Assure accessibility and availability for students while in designated clinical sites.
* Coordinate clinical practice to didactic and curricular standards and theory whenever possible.
* Participate in the on-going evaluation of student progress. Communicate progress and/or student difficulties to program faculty on a timely basis.
* Maintain accurate records of time, destination, and progress; provide documentation when applicable.
* Assist in the rotational evaluation of students, in both clinical sites and on campus.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Certifications, Licensures and Registrations required:
* Must have obtained a minimum of an AS in Respiratory Therapy; BS preferred
* Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NRBC);
* Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the Respiratory Care Board of Massachusetts and/or New York. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting; AHA BLS Instructor; Provider for Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
