This nine-month position is designed to support the College's Business Analytics and Information Systems degree programs.
Responsibilities: Successful applicants are expected to engage in high-quality and impactful research publishable in top-tier journals, to achieve teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to provide appropriate service to the department, college, and university. The teaching load is commensurate with research expectations. In addition, candidates are expected to contribute to the collegial and intellectual environment of the department by working with other faculty members, advising Ph.D. students, and participating in service-related activities.
About the Department & Programs: The Department of Business Analytics and Information Systems at the Harbert College of Business is home to the nationally ranked undergraduate program in Business Analytics and a thriving undergraduate, master's, and PhD program in Information Systems. The department also offers graduate certificates in Information Systems, Cyber Security Management, and Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The faculty supporting these programs consists of an Eminent Scholar and fifteen additional tenure track faculty, five lecturers, two professors of practice, and one person dedicated to the professional development of business analytics and management information systems students. Our faculty have varied research interests and publish in top-tier journals, such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Marketing Science and European Journal of Information Systems. The department houses advanced computing infrastructure to support high-performance computing through the Business Analytics lab, the Virtual Reality lab, and the state-of-the-art Data Immersion lab. Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications: Applicants must possess a doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution in Information Systems, Management Science, Business Analytics, Operations Management or a closely related field when employment begins. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform assignments and maintain duty hours in accordance with the current facultyschedule. Classes may be taught at either campus or at an off-campus site. Classes may be scheduled day, evening or weekends to meet student needs.
* Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course syllabi, facilitate student learning, and assist in implementing the total instructional program.
* Promote safety throughout the total instructional program.

* Coordinate with the college placement office to identify potential employment opportunities for students and to identify students interested in job placement.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree with 27 semester hours in the teaching field and six (6) years of documented full-time work experience in the teaching field; OR Bachelor's Degree with specialized coursework equivalent to the community or technical college program and six (6) years of documented full-time work experience in the teaching field.
* Successful completion of an approved occupational examination within the first year of employment

Job Summary
The position of Assistant Professor of History Education is a ten-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Teacher Education, Leadership, & Counseling Department in the College of Education and Health Professions. The start date for the position is January 2026.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Coordinating the undergraduate and graduate programs in History Education, effective teaching and advising at the graduate and undergraduate levels (face-to-face, blended, and fully online); designing, implementing, and assessing History Education programs of study; supervising student teachers, interns, and practicum students; engaging in research and scholarly activities, to include mentoring doctoral students, serving on and chairing doctoral dissertation committees; performing service to the program, department, college, and university; working closely with faculty in the Middle and Secondary Education fields as well as content faculty in the College of Letters and Sciences; and participating actively in History Education professional development and leadership activities.; The successful candidate will perform service and administrative tasks necessary to enhance program, department, college, and university goals and objectives, foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work in continuous improvement of educator preparation and educational research, demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.; The successful candidate will be a community role model who fosters an environment of professionalism, scholarship, continuous improvement in History Education program design and delivery, and collaboration with university faculty and public-school personnel. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: Candidates must have an earned doctorate (ABD considered) in History Education (expertise in both middle and secondary history education preferred) or a related field from a regionally accredited institution; experience and knowledge in education as a middle and/or secondary history teacher (public, U.S. schools preferred), curriculum director, or administrator; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills; a record of successful research and publication or strong evidence of potential; a demonstrated record of membership and participation in relevant professional organizations; a record of service and involvement in the profession; and the ability to use technology for synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications include: Preference will be given to candidates who have the ability to bring innovative strategies to the teacher education program; have evidence of successful teaching at the college level in both traditional and online environments; have middle and secondary grades history teaching certification and teaching experience in U.S. public schools; and have evidence of collaborating with middle and secondary schools/partners in Professional Development Schools.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic, innovative, and externally funded research program in Aquatic Genomics.
