The University of Akron invites applications for the faculty position of Robert C. Musson Cybersecurity Endowed Chair. This is a leadership role for a recognized cybersecurity expert who will drive innovation in research, teaching, and industry collaboration while contributing to the growth of the newly formed Institute of Computing, Data and Information Sciences (ICDIS). The position will begin fall 2026. Rank of Assistant or Associate based on qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related with a cybersecurity focus, and a strong record of research and publications in cybersecurity.
The Musson Cybersecurity Chair will provide leadership in advancing the ICDIS cybersecurity research initiatives by conducting and publishing independent research, guiding the research strategy by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring graduate students. The Chair will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity and information systems; develop and update curriculum, and training programs; and support student retention. The Chair will engage with industry partners, professional communities, and K-12 outreach to promote student recruitment and contribute to the University's reputation as a leader in cybersecurity education and research. The Chair will also leverage and expand the Musson Industrial Control Systems Test Bed to strengthen workforce development and cybersecurity practices.

The University of Akron's Department of Computer Science offers programs in Computer Science and Information Systems. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive Master of Science degree, specifically in Computer Science. Currently, the Department has 12 full-time faculty members, 8 tenure track and 4 non-tenure track. We currently have more than 750 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in computing.

All areas of specialization will be considered, yet special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to develop community partnerships and/or service learning opportunities involving students. We are primarily a teaching University and are looking for applicants with well-developed teaching skills. Faculty members teach a total of 21-24 credit hours per academic year. The successful applicant will be expected to teach applied courses that engage students in the Greater Cleveland community. This could be through a service learning course, internship course, or applied research course in the field. They would also be expected to teach any of our required courses, including Intro to Psychology, Statistics, SPSS, Research Methods and Thesis, in addition to a lower level topical seminar. They also may be asked to develop new courses in their area of specialization.
The Psychology Department currently has 7 full-time members representing the main sub-disciplines in the field. The Psychology major is one of the largest majors on campus, and the department is housed in the Neal Malicky Center for the Social Sciences, which has dedicated research space for human research. Faculty members involve undergraduate students in their research program. The successful candidate will engage in an active program of applied research (either on campus or off campus with a healthcare/nonprofit/ community agency partner) where undergraduates will be able to improve their skills and make meaningful contributions.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and offers a program that leads to a B.S. in Chemistry, with optional concentrations in Biochemistry and Chemical Physics. The department currently includes four full-time tenured faculty, a research scholar in residence, a general chemistry lab coordinator, a half-time administrative assistant, a half-time laboratory technician, and a central stores manager who also serves as the chemical hygiene officer. A fifth tenured professor in chemistry currently serves as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department graduates 10-20 majors each year, with approximately two-thirds engaging in research projects both on and off campus. The department is equipped with modern instrumentation including a 60 MHz NMR, ESR, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, IR, DSC, Fluorimeter, UV-Vis, Electrochemical, AA, ICP-OES, Microwave Synthesis and Polarimeter.

Ashland Theological Seminary (ATS) is a graduate division of Ashland University, located in Ashland, Ohio. ATS seeks a qualified candidate in Practical Theology. This nine-month, full-time, tenure-track Jack Miller Endowed faculty position in Practical Theology begins on August 1, 2026.
* Faculty deliver courses in multiple formats, including in-person, hybrid, intensive, and online.
* The person in this role is expected to represent the Seminary and University while engaging in community activities that promote theological education and Christian practices.
* The successful candidate demonstrates a knowledge of and commitment to the Brethren Church heritage and theological education delivered from a Christ-centered worldview, expresses a strong commitment to a servant-leadership model, and a demonstrates the ability to succeed in this role.
* Faculty represent the Seminary and University while they engage in community activities that promote theological education and Christian practices.
* Faculty teach and advise students in graduate and undergraduate core and advanced Practical Theology courses, provide professional guidance to students, participate in scholarly and professional development activities, serve on Seminary departmental and Seminary committees, and work collegially with Seminary and University faculty and administration.
* The successful candidate will have experience/skills in some or all of the following areas: homiletics, worship, spiritual formation, pastoral theology, and church and culture.
Required Qualifications
* PhD or equivalent in Practical Theology.
* A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other educational environments.
* Experience teaching in non-traditional formats, blended and/or online courses.
* A track record as a collaborative, servant-leader with outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
