Responsibilities include teaching twelve undergraduate hours per semester, including first year composition and advanced writing courses. The successful candidate will actively contribute to scholarly pursuits, departmental initiatives, and the intellectual and cultural life of the university and will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Additional responsibilities include committee assignments, participation in professional development, attending regularly scheduled faculty and department meetings, and other duties associated with a tenure-track faculty position.
A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in English with a preferred specialization in rhetoric and composition conferred by August 2026 is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Candidates must also exhibit evidence of effective teaching experience at the college level along with evidence of scholarly promise.

Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related field, at least two years of relevant postdoctoral experience, and a research program in the general area of neural plasticity. These positions are partially funded through the NSF EPSCoR Track I award “West Virginia Network for Functional Neuroscience and Transcriptomics (WV- NFNT )”. WV- NFNT will help build inter-institutional capacity for investigating synaptic and circuit plasticity through high resolution structure-function techniques, specifically super resolution microscopy and spatial transcriptomics. New hires and capability will expand on existing strengths in neuroscience, imaging, and -omics science. The successful candidates will join a growing and dynamic team of scientists and educators, and will be expected to become part of the WV- NFNT team linking institutions across the state. We are interested in several research foci and model organisms within the broad WV- NFNT scope, in particular research related to immune function, metabolic regulation and dysregulation, and responses to exogenous drugs or other stimuli. Teaching responsibilities will be in the department's general education and core courses, along with development or redesign of upper level and graduate courses in the candidates' fields of interest. We are particularly interested in candidates with qualifications and a desire to teach immunology, metabolism, or histology, along with neuroscience-related topics. The Department of Computer Sciences and Electrical Engineering at Marshall University invites applications for three tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024. Position Type : The positions are full-time, nine-month, tenure-track. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications : Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field. Applicants from all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome candidates with a background in one of the three fields below: 1. Cybersecurity and Networking 2. Data Science ,Machine learning, and Bioinformatics 3. Game design, game art, animation, and AI. The candidate is expected to develop a research program, actively seek external research funding, and collaborate on projects. The candidate must be able to work in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary settings and exhibit a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate computer science courses. The candidate must be committed to service to the institution, the department, and the community and support cultural diversity and pluralism. Preferred qualifications: potential to create and teach online courses; public speaking and recruitment experience. Research experience in an area that complements existing initiatives of the Department. Industrial experience is advantageous. Duties : In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, the successful applicant will · conduct research in specialized areas. · advise undergraduate and graduate students. · work as a team on department activities including curriculum development, assessment, recruitment, and other service. · perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of the department and Dean of the college. Background: The Department of Computer Sciences and Electrical Engineering offers three B.S. degrees in Computer Science, Computer and Information Technology (with two emphases: Game Development and Web Technology), and Electrical & Computer Engineering, and four M.S. degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Electrical Engineering. The department is housed in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences ( CECS ), a multi-disciplinary college with a wide range of faculty expertise and interests. Construction of a new 45-million-dollar Cyber Security Center starts in 2024 and the 78,000 square-foot building will house 13 different labs for the cyber security field such as Open-Source Intelligence, Industrial Control Systems, SCIFF , and Digital Identity, as well as places for private industry.
