Adjunct Instructors are healthcare professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Edgewood University students. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of the teacher and facilitator of learning.
Must have an earned a master, doctorate, JD, or ABD as well as solid and evidence of broad-based knowledge, experience, and credentials in the discipline of healthcare administration; peer-reviewed publication; speaking experience at relevant conferences; or other evidence of expertise. Should be able to demonstrable experience in and knowledge of effective, interactive, evidence-based, and asynchronous online teaching, including expertise in building a high level of student engagement and interaction. Candidates should also have the ability to build their own courses in Canvas, or a willingness to learn how to do so. Training in Quality Matters is a plus.
Must reside or be willing to relocate to one of the following states: Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, or Virginia.
Responsibilities:
* Plan and teach courses and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
* Write, revise, and distribute a course syllabus in alignment with the course description, including course requirements, grading criteria, and grading rubrics, and using the Edgewood University template.
* Maintain student attendance and grading records according to University's policies.
* Collaborate with other faculty to provide consistent, effective learning and support for students.
* Monitor, assess, support student performance, and advise students on academic issues as needed.
* Keep current in research and practice related to program content.
* Ability to seek out and use timely and current textbooks and peer-reviewed articles as course materials.
* Maintain confidentiality relating to student matters (understand FERPA).
* Maintain federal and Higher Learning Commission guidelines/requirements based on the Carnegie Unit of 135 hours (minimum total for a 3-credit course) through designing a clear plan of instruction and expected time-on-task per credit per week.
* Comply with college policies and guidelines.
* Willingness to participate in bi-monthly meetings with the program director and other faculty.
Necessary Education or Work Experience
* Relevant earned master, doctoral degree, or ABD required from a regionally accredited university or college, or its equivalent: MA, MS, MHA, PhD, DHA, MD, JD, DSW, DNP, PharmD, PsyD, EdD, etc.
* Demonstrated advanced and broad-based knowledge healthcare law and ethics; peer-reviewed publications; higher education teaching experience; and/or conference presentations conducted within the past five years.
* Successful teaching experience in graduate level higher education is preferred.
* Successful teaching experience in asynchronous and highly interactive online education is required.
* Ability to build online courses in Canvas.

* Ability to critique student professionalism, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and knowledge content in healthcare administration.
* Ability to articulate own philosophy of education.

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH) is recruiting an exceptional oncologic and reconstructive Head & Neck Surgeon to join the Division of Head & Neck Surgery. We are looking for applicants with early career interest or a track record in one of more of the following areas of academic interest: scholarly activities, surgical education, mentorship, quality improvement, multidisciplinary complex care, or global outreach.
This position involves joining a busy section of head & neck surgeons who perform all aspects of ablative, robotic, and reconstructive surgery with tremendous opportunities for growth in all arms of the academic mission.
We seek a head & neck surgeon with interest, skill, and state-of-the-art care of otolaryngology-HNS oncologic patients, and with passion for multidisciplinary care.
Resources and opportunities include:
Multidisciplinary management of head & neck malignancies with a core team consisting of 4 head & neck surgical oncologists, one endoscopic skull base surgeon, 3 head & neck radiation oncologists, and 2 head & neck medical oncologists.
Multidisciplinary head & neck tumor boards are held where 15-25 patients are presented each week.
This program is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, which is the only National Cancer Institute designated cancer center in the State of Wisconsin. In addition, regular melanoma and sarcoma tumor boards and a multi-disciplinary endocrine conference are held.
NIH-sponsored Head & Neck Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant funding. This $14 million SPORE, recently renewed through 2027, focuses on translational research of head & neck cancer, and provides over $350,000 annually in funding for pilot research projects in head & neck cancer.
Opportunities exist for inter-departmental collaboration and mentorship.

An active commitment to training the next generation of otolaryngologist-head & neck surgeons including commitments to ACGME-accredited residency training in otolaryngology-head & neck surgery (especially in head & neck key indicator cases), and to the AHNS accredited H&N fellowship program.
Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
Clinical Activity (70%): The applicant should have command of the core knowledge and understanding of medical sciences relevant to these regions and advanced diagnostic and medical and surgical management skills for patients with complex head & neck malignancies.
The applicant is expected to work collaboratively and inclusively within and across related fields including medical oncology and radiation oncology.
Occasional otolaryngology on-call coverage and regional outreach clinical commitments are shared amongst all faculty.

Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise.

Academic program (30%): The successfully recruited surgeon on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track will also participate in or develop areas of academic and scholarly pursuit. The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery has 31 faculty members who provide clinical expertise in head & neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, otology-neurotology-lateral skull base surgery, comprehensive otolaryngology, laryngology, rhinology-skull base surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery across the UW Health hospital system and William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. The Department provides full-spectrum otolaryngology care for adults and children at six clinical practice sites in the Madison area and six outreach sites across Wisconsin and Illinois. Education within the division includes a commitment to medical student education, an ACGME accredited residency program of 15 residents, and fellowships in Head & Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery and Laryngology. Clinical in-patient and out-patient practices are supported by a team of 12 Advance Practice Providers.
The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery currently has 31 active extramural grants with a total budget of nearly $26 million, as well as collaborations with related programs across the University of Wisconsin campus such as the Wisconsin Surgical Outcomes Research Program (WiSOR), the Waisman Center, and through the Head & Neck Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) funding. These collaborations provide ample opportunities for investigators at the Assistant Professor rank to form critical mentoring relationships on their way towards independence.

The Assistant Educator for La Jornada will provide assistance to the teaching staff. Provide feedback to the Lead Educator about the progress of the children and discuss important issues pertaining to the children on a regular basis.

ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for instruction in the Small Business Entrepreneur program at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Business and Applied Arts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Instructs students in the Small Business Entrepreneurship program which may include, but not be limited to the following curriculum areas: Operations Management, Small Business Marketing/Promotion, Small Business Development & Planning, and Internships.
2. Develops and plans appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
3. Assists and advises students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
4. Evaluates student performance and provides regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
5. Assists students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
6. Actively works with other personnel to develop strategies for student recruitment, retention, and success. This includes developing strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of minority students.
7. Develops and maintains curriculum in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student delivery needs in collaboration with department/ division staff; participates in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
8. Complies with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and academic advising, etc.
9. Maintains certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.
10. Complies with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
11. Attends division and department meetings.
