Job Description
The Department of Agriculture, Veterinary, and Rangeland Sciences is seeking applicants to fill an Assistant Professor position in Rangeland Ecology & Management. The position is a tenure-track appointment at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). We are seeking a rangeland scientist/ecologist dedicated to educating, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the ecology and management of rangelands and related fields. The position will consist of teaching, research, and service/outreach.
The department seeks a dynamic individual to provide leadership in teaching, research, and outreach/service related to rangeland ecology and management in the Great Basin and Intermountain West. The department expectation is that the successful applicant will develop a program in applied rangeland ecology and management, including areas such as rangeland plant and plant community/soil relationships, rangeland plant and plant community/animal interactions, rangeland plant community dynamics and rehabilitation, or other topics germane to rangeland ecology and management.
Research activities may be conducted at any of the Nevada Agriculture Experiment Station facilities, including the Gund Ranch and the Great Basin Research and Extension Center, and in cooperation with State and Federal land and natural resource management agencies and private operations. Outreach to stakeholders is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core undergraduate rangeland ecology and management courses as well as graduate courses, while also mentoring graduate students and contributing to curriculum development. Undergraduate mentoring may include career counseling, advising the Range Club, or other activities as determined by the Department Chair. Acquisition of grant funding will be essential to maintain active research and outreach programs that meet the expectations for this position. Outreach activities are expected to cover local to international challenges and locations and therefore may require extensive travel throughout Nevada and beyond.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or closely related discipline. Ph.D. degree must be conferred by May 31, 2026.
Working knowledge, demonstrated field experience, and applied training in ecology and management of rangelands and other natural resources.
Demonstrated potential to produce a strong publication record.
Must be physically capable of conducting research and outreach in remote, rugged locations, including the ability to hike long distances, operate UTVs / ATVs, and tolerate extreme temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in rangeland ecology and management or related fields such as fire ecology, range-livestock interactions, and rangeland soil relationships in an effective manner.
Demonstrated ability to teach using more than one delivery method including face-to-face, virtual, and field based labs.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and demonstrated potential for securing competitive funding for research and outreach.
Expertise, training or experience applying animal and/or soil science to rangeland science and management.
Demonstrated ability to work productively with land management agencies and various stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated ability to articulate natural resource science and management to diverse audiences in the classroom and with stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to develop an innovative range management/natural resource outreach program throughout the state of Nevada and beyond.

The College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources at the University of Nevada, Reno, is excited to announce a unique opportunity for an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Sciences (AVRS). This position focuses on Sustainable Frameworks in Ruminant Nutrition integrating mechanisms that minimize the utilization of environmental resources and optimize growth performance, health, and meat production.
Responsibilities: The Department of Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno, is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the ruminant nutrition program. The research program must emphasize the development of sustainable ruminant nutrition frameworks to optimize all production cycles, leading to high-efficiency meat production. This tenure-track position will be a 9-month appointment with a 50% Research, 40% Teaching and 10% Service/Outreach expectation. The candidate must possess the ability to develop innovative teaching and research programs, that include fundamental and advanced animal nutrition courses, mentor graduate students and develop a successful, internationally recognized, and competitively funded research program. Sub-areas of the research program may include but are not limited to climate-smart agriculture, utilization of by-products, water use mitigation, methanogenesis, microbial ecology, and animal welfare, health, and nutrigenomics integration. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate and contribute to interdisciplinary activities within the Rangeland Ecology and Veterinary Sciences programs.

Secure research grants and publish findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
Service
Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

This position is in the Fitness Education Center and is responsible for assisting students with access and utilization of the exercise equipment in the center, giving new student orientations, and signing off on student exercise programs.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Dean of Instruction, teach assigned courses in the Physical Education discipline's curriculum.
* Teach fitness and health courses in a lab setting and gym facility-shifts may include day, night, or weekend shifts.
* Create and promote an effective learning environment to enhance student engagement and safety.
* Assist students of all ages and abilities in program design and development based on student's goals and capabilities.
* Demonstrate the use of gym equipment and proper form for weight and/or cardiovascular training.
* Develop syllabuses and Canvas shells as required per institutional guidelines.
* Meet with and advise students on their initial visit to the Fitness Education Center and throughout each quarter.
* Maintain professional knowledge and expertise in the field of fitness and health education.

Family Medicine Residency Program Faculty exemplify commitment to leadership in resident education and program administration to meet the goal of continuous program improvement. Working in tandem with and reporting to the Program Director (PD), faculty will support the PD in the organization, implementation, and supervision of the training program. Duties include but not limited to: resident selection, orientation, evaluation, and remediation; curriculum development; program evaluation, accreditation, and improvement; supervision and mentoring of Family Medicine Residents.

* Foster the spirit of collegiality and camaraderie among residents and faculty.

* Provide and attend didactic lecture/workshop sessions & contribute to the quality of didactics and clinical education of the program for both the FM residents and the medical students.
* Participate in the evaluation of the program residents, medical students and faculty and decisions related to their continued participation in the training program.
* Participate in the program evaluation committee and help complete the annual program evaluation at the discretion of the program director.
* Evaluate FM resident advisees on the progress on the FM Milestones at least semi-annually and present advisees/participate in the clinical competency committee.

* Provide direct clinical supervision of residents in the continuity clinic, frequency to be dictated by the program director.

* Assist the PD and core faculty in maintaining the clinical learning environment of the continuity clinic including implementation of the longitudinal goals and objectives of the program.
* Oversee individualized educational plans or remediation of residents as it pertains to the primary care clinic.
* Mentor and assist residents in developing primary care focused careers.
* Assist in the development of the continuity clinic educational experience to include but not limited to didactics, outpatient case conference and huddles.
* Oversee and adjust resident patient panels to maintain appropriate clinical content, size and case mix.
* Review and respond to resident feedback.
Program Mentorship & Scholarship:
* Mentor residents and provide semi-annual meetings, as well as ad hoc meetings as necessary.
* Mentor resident scholarship with the goal of residents completing one scholarly project per year: Quality Improvement, curriculum development, posters, abstracts, papers, chapters, or presentations, etc.
* Participate in scholarship with the goal of completing one scholarly project per year at the state, regional, national or international level: Quality Improvement, curriculum development, posters, abstracts, papers, chapters, or presentations, etc.
* Write letters of recommendation for medical students and residents seeking positions in residencies and fellowships as needed.
* Support residents attending regional or national conferences.

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Job Description
The Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering (DGSE) at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a continuing, full-time (12-month, non-tenure track) Teaching Assistant Professor position starting in August 2026. Building on strengths in field and lab-based teaching and research, the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by DGSE aim to train students to solve societally relevant problems from multi-disciplinary perspectives and to be technically proficient geoscientists for diverse industries. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to this mission by teaching a range of lower and upper division undergraduate courses and potentially contribute to graduate level instruction. Courses may include introductory geology, mineralogy, petrology, petrography, geochemistry, earth resources, as well as service courses for non-majors, according to the candidate's background. The expected teaching load is from 4 to 6 courses per year and required mode of course delivery is in-person, but will follow temporary alternate operations as adopted by University administration. Applicants are encouraged to consult our undergraduate and graduate curricula linked in the Department Information provided below.
The position will also have a strong service component tied to the undergraduate Geology curriculum, including student advisement, overseeing teaching labs and associated teaching collections, curriculum development and enhancement. Other possible service components include supervising independent study or research projects, membership on department committees, and involvement with student clubs and organizations. We seek someone who will complement the existing strengths in our department, and who will help develop connections with potential employers, the Geological Society of Nevada and similar local geoscience organizations. The University provides a clear promotion pathway for teaching faculty that includes regular review, and base salary increases upon promotion.

Our mission has guided our growth in graduating the next generation of primary and specialty care physicians and medical researchers while maintaining personalized instruction. The School of Medicine has statewide outreach with a local touch providing patient care, health services, and training physicians in Reno, Nevada and in the state's rural communities. We are expanding provider education to train medical specialists as Medical Doctors as well as Speech Pathologists and Physician Assistants. We are actively expanding technologically-advanced infrastructure to keep pace with our world-class research to meet the needs of students, patients, and researchers.
